Thought this needed a thread here as it's coming to Sci Fi in the near future. Anyone got an opinion on this yet? Not seen it but are intrigued? Or think Sci-Fi should've stuck to their original decision to pass on it?

It's been a big hit elsewhere in the world but it's a bit different to the usual BSG/Stargate type sci-fi fare - the closest comparison I can think of is Lexx but with added emotional resonance. It'll be interesting to see how it goes down.

I would like to see the new Doctor Who shows see how they did the Doc

It depends. Is this show going to displace the badly acted made-for-TV movies with poor plots and horrible special effects? [smirk]

From what I hear, the new Doctor Who is truly kicking ass. Modern FX and really quality acting. And it uses all the established backstory without burying you in.

So this is a totally new, updated version of the series? Taking the old idea and revamping it, like they've done with BSG?

No, it's a continuation, but it's been reformated and updated. It has the essential Who spirit, but with completely modern production values and faster moving stories. It's hour long episodes, too, instead of multisegmented, short seg long stories.
