View Full Version : The end of an era. Well...for me at least

Hey folks,

Today is a bitter sweet day for me, as it is my last day as DCG Adminstrator. I have recently gotten a full time job at an ad agency and my free time is limited and unpredictable. I came to the decision that I couldn't always guarantee that updating the DCG would fit into my days. So, the time has come for me to pass the honour (er, and the work) onto somebody else.

B has graciously agreed to be that person. He will be taking over as DCG Admin right away.

When I first took over the job, I made some changes to some of the rules of what I posted, so B may very well do the same. That is up to him. I know that B will do a great job either way.

I've been taking care of the gallery for almost three years and it's been a great time. I've loved seeing every image that's come through the queue and it's been a great honour to be a part of the team that keeps C2F together.

So, everybody welcome B as our new DCG Administrator!!

Wait....... so does this mean there will also be no more late-night rompings through central park with no clothing on our backs aside from *those* pictures of Kev and the leaves of a Sycamore tree (to hide the fact that Zac-cheus is, infact, a wee little man)??? Say it ain't so Thur! Say it ain't so!!!!!!

Okay, I guess that's my cue.

So yes, I'm your new Person-for-Kev-to-make-fun-of-when-there's-no-update. Sorry, I meant your new DCG administrator.

Uh... am I supposed to make a speech? No? Good.

To get the oscar acceptance speech bit out of the way, I'd like to say thank you to Essex for selecting me as his successor, to Robbo for setting it up, and to Zac and dperceful for tossing my name in the hat. Plus, thank you to anyone I forgot.

Now... I don't foresee any great changes to the gallery.

Updates will remain on Monday, Wednesday and Friday (or late the evening before, more accurately), as usual.

I will still be rejecting overly adult images, as well as images with too little effort put into them, or ones with too little change from the base image. However, there is not going to be any significant change in the level of quality necessary to get an image posted onto the DCG. I'm going to do my best to maintain the same standards Adam did, so if your work was getting accepted when he was in charge, chances are nothing will change... unless you're kev_incal and you've made one too many off colour jokes about my nocturnal activities, obviously. http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/biggrin.gif

If I do make any changes to the posting policies, I'll let everyone now right here on the boards.

I'm available for questions/comments/etc at zek@site.uottawa.ca, should they arise.

Now get back to working on your artwork, dammit!

Now to start the press conference:

Question: Will you be following Essex' steps by customizing the winners for the November DCG awards?

B
05-01-2005, 08:20 PM
Answer: Ah, yes, the DCG awards. Thanks for reminding me. I need to make a post about those, don't I? Anyway, yes, I'll be customizing the DCG award winners, if circumstances allow.

Alas Thur, it has been fun. I'm glad you found that online 'furry boyz' webcam job though. I mean, to be paid for doing something you truly love (however against the laws of the animal kingdom), it truly a good thing. And Zac, you can still see Zac fairly regularly. Now that your 18, you can sign on the his weekly webcam show and still say high. I think Marrow's got a weekly show too, no?

B, welcome to the job. Your chaps and sloth costume are over there in the corner. Now dance, you hairless ape!

B
05-02-2005, 10:45 AM
Wait a minute... I get chaps? chaps? And a sloth costume? Wow, if I'd known the perks of this job, I'd have threatened Thur's loved ones ages ago!

...

Wait, that didn't come out right...

Good luck to Essex on your new job. Sorry to see you go.

Congratulations B on the new post. You always wanted to see stuff of mine in the queue. Well now you get your wish. The only thing is... I don't know when my next image will be! http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/wink.gif

Your next had better be soon, Welsh! Otherwise I shall be force to call upon the higher powers that come with the task of administering the DCG... and you wouldn't want to see that, trust me.

And I got to see your Supergirl pic in the queue... a whole half hour before everyone else saw it! http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/wink.gif

So are you answering all the DCG administrator emails now? And did you do the last update (as a practice) or was it Essex?

Just a note to thank Essex for all his hard work for all of us and a hope that the lessened workload will mean more pix from him.

Also, to welcome B as the new Head Honcho!
I know you'll do well.
And thank you for taking it on.

Happy retirement, Essex! Make sure to stop by the boards from time to time!

And as a parting gift, we present to you this gold watch!
Wait...
Dang it, where's the watch?
Oh.
Nevermind, SOMEONE wasted the watch money on beer, I'm afraid.

Kev! Stop wasting Adam's retirement gift money! I know it was you!

Is there a specific email address for the DCG admin? I wasn't aware of one. Unless you mean the dcgeditor@comics2film.com address that sends out the automated notices when your work is accepted... If there is an email address that should go to the DCG admin, I'll see about getting it to forward to me. I think I should certainly be the one dealing with any questions about the gallery.

Oh, and Essex and I split the update. He did most of it, I did the last few pics.

Sheesh, I run off for a while, learn the way of the ninja in a Himalayan monistary, and I come back to find everything's changed. So congrats to B, good luck to Adam....oh and, I'm back http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/wink.gif (not that many[if any] remember me or care)

B
05-05-2005, 10:36 PM
Sure, we remember you. You're... uh... that guy with the... uh... the thing... sorry, who are you, again? http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/biggrin.gif

Kidding. Welcome back, thanks, and I expect you to teach us everything you learned in that monastery.

Haha..thanks.
I'm going to get to work right now submitting some art I've done while I've been away.
Hopefully I can get back into the groove of things.

Oh, PS- Think somebody with some power can change my little title thing to Depressed Robot? http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/smile.gif

Thanks, everyone, for taking the time to post in here. It's nice to see that people care. Except kev_incal. I hate that guy. http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/tongue.gif Just Kidding. I'll miss reading about my own strange nightly daliances from Kev.

I know B will do a great job. And in fact, I've already been proven right just in the last few days. Look how he's got people talking! I have a feeling this is the beginning of something great!

I'll still be around on the boards. I need something to do when work slows down (of course, only to speed up an hour before I planned to leave http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/smile.gif)

You're not really leaving, though, right? you're just not doing the gallery?

Essex
05-06-2005, 02:01 PM
Oh no, not leaving. But I haven't really been extremely active on the boards in a long time. Factor in my lack of art and not doing the gallery and all I'm left with is an occasional post.

But I think I'm going to try to post more often.

Glad to hear you'll still be around, Adam. This place wouldn't be the same without you. But you can't have your job back. http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/tongue.gif

And yes, David, I can assure you I'm a guy. At least I was last time I checked. And there's photos in the DCG album to prove it. I'm not entirely sure I wanted to know why you thought I was girl, anyway... though it probably has something to do with kev_incal. It always does, after all. http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/biggrin.gif
