View Full Version : The joys of Allison Mack
At the suggestion of some hunting bird that fell in gold paint, I've decided to start up a thread where we can discuss Allison Mack/ Chloe separately, since she obviously has a few fans here, and to keep the Smallville thread specifically for discussing the series generally.
We were discussing her singing abilities, but I'm sure we can also talk about her many other attributes.

That bird didn't fall into paint. He layers it on with toenail polish!
One night I was channel surfing and saw Allison on an re-run episode of Providence. I only got to watch her in one scene and her character was with her boyfriend in the hospital. I forget why, I was just focusing on her.
She must've been young at the time. When was the series made? And did she look the same or was she any different - eg different hairstyle etc? What else has she played in?

I don't think her hair was as stylish as it is on Smallville but it was pretty much the same. Allison looked exactly the same physically except she was a few years younger and a little smaller.

Frankly I think her and Micheal Rosenbaum make Smallville a great show.
Would things have been any different if Allison had been cast as Lana? Of course, she would've had a bigger role, but would people have preferred to see that, or do they prefer her as Chloe? And could she even have been cast as Lana Lang? Does Lana have to be a brunette? I'm not sure what she's like in the comics.
Or what if Smallville had changed the premise even further, and made it that Lois Lane were in high school with Clark? What if Allison had played the role of Lois? Obviously there are some similarities between Chloe and Lois. It could've been that Clark somehow never noticed Lois in high school but was always after Lana, but when they grew up, he realised what a fool he'd been and decided to pursue her. But now, Lois was past her feelings for Clark Kent (or had at least given up on him) and wanted to pursue her career. That could've been interesting. Thoughts?

The way I see it, Smallville separated Lois' characteristics into Lana and Chloe.

I find it sad that Chloe is pining over Clark, because Clark is going to grow up and marry her cousin. That's just a huge stab in the heart.

Really? Does she actually feature in the commercial? I doubt we'd have it over here in the UK - do you suppose that it might be online anywhere, as some other commercials are? And what's the name of the product?

Well everytime I think about getting rid of AOL they come up with something new and this time its "Chloe Chronicles". Yes, we now get to see Chloe in all her bosom..er..wisdom, on the internet in 2 to 4 minute episodes. I checked out the first one and if you need a Chloe fix, then its just what the doctor ordered. This is supposed to be exclusive to AOL but I'm sure some cybergeek will find a way to get it out to the smart folk that don't use it. Now if they can just find a way to get Ms. Mack sing happy birthday to me while stripping off her clothes I'll really be impressed.

Are you sure you've got this correct? I don't have AOL, but as far as I know, the Chloe Chronicles isn't Allison Mack doing a striptease or other sexual acts. I think it's just meant to be a short episodic online story featuring Chloe investigating different mysteries and interviewing people.
On another note, who here would like to see a Chloe action figure? I certainly would, but i'm not sure if the Smallville action figure line would be the best option. Perhaps a 12" version with actual clothing and hair (like a barbie doll) rather than a completely moulded figure? What would you like to see? And would you buy it?

Well, as long as fully functional means that she still has that charming personality, great smile, sense of humour, can engage in witter banter with you and not necessarily agree with everything you say (even argue with you). If she were just like a submissive fembot who obeyed your every command, that wouldn't be all that fun.

Hmmm. I'm not sure I needed to read that. I like Allison Mack because she seems like a really nice girl - the kind one would want to date - not because of some "geek porn" thing as suggested.

I agree with about 53% of that geek porn thing. They don't need to be complete geeks that know Luke's home planet it Tatooine. And the whole "In my kind of porno movies the girls wouldn't even have to get naked.
They'd just take the guys down to the rec room and
beat them repeatedly at chess
and then talk to them for hours about Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle
or the underlying social metaphors in the Aliens movies." thing doesn't even make sense.
Well getting back to the subject of a Chloe action figure, I think there should be one. Although it would certainly have to be a lot better than the Alias Jennifer Garner figures which just don't do Sydney Bristow justice at all. I don't know if they even did a full body scan for her, but the likeness isn't very good. For a good likeness and good sculpting, I suggest one should look at the new Classic Star Trek action figures that were revealed at Toy Fair 2003. They were excellently made with very detailed sculpts. Now that is the standard of action figure I would like to see for a Chloe doll, with a full body scan and meticulous detailing. And I'd like to see lifelike skin as has been appearing on various dolls in recent years.

Chloe Chronicles Located! (http://www.thewb.com/Shows/WithFeedback/0,9310,111513,00.html)
Hey, I've just viewed the Chloe Chronicles from that link. Allison Mack seems even cuter than she is on the show, because she's actually talking to the audience directly! Now if only it were a lifesize virtual reality/ holographic program which could appear directly in front of you instead of on the computer screen. That would be cool.
------------------
Meoww! Send in the clowns!
Having watched two episodes of the Chloe Chronicles now, I think that this should have been a subplot in the actual Smallville show. It's great to watch Allison Mack doing her investigative reporter thing, chasing down leads regarding Earl Jenkins's death. I've found that I really enjoy watching her driving the whole mini-episodes on her own. However, this shouldn't have simply been an online thing but something that could have been incorporated into the show to give Chloe more screen time.
What do others think?

Some guy in a band. I think his name's Peter, but beyond that I haven't been able to find out anything else about him. Not even the name of the band he's in.
Apparently they've been going together for quite awhile and I think (it's been awhile since I read this) she has his initials tattooed on her over her heart. I might be wrong about that though.

Tattoo? That seems a bit wild for Allison, especially over her heart, because that would basically put in on her left breast.
She actually features quite a bit in the latest Smallville comic, with a short story which takes place in Metropolis, together with Pete Ross called something like "what I did last summer" or something like that. And there's an interview with her too.

Yeah, the tattoo is a little surprising, but everybody is entitled to do something a little wild now and then. It turns out she actually has two of them. A P over her heart for her boyfriend and the Dawn Faery from Brian Froud's Good Faeries, Bad Faeries on her right ankle.
Also the name of her boyfriend's band is "Leisure" which I haven't ever heard of before, so I'm guessing they haven't really hit it big yet. I wonder if Allison has ever sung with them.
I found a couple of Allison Mack web sites that you might be interested in.
www.allisonmack.com (http://www.allisonmack.com) her official web site
www.allison-mack.com (http://www.allison-mack.com) an independent web site but it's pretty good.
Are the Smallville comics any good? I've looked for them, but so far I haven't been able to find them. I have read some of the Smallville novels (not the short, young adult ones) and so far they've been running 50/50. Two good, two not so good.
[This message has been edited by Kwick22a (edited 05-30-2003).]
I don't know how great the Smallville comic is compared to a regular comic book. For comics based on live action tv shows, I always tend to prefer watching the proper thing than reading about it, as the comic always seems to pale in comparison, just like these movie adaptations of Spider-Man or X-Men.
Smallville isn't bad for a comic though I suppose, and the art is decent enough but more similar to older style comics than the new ones with the fancy colouring and inking. Some of the likenesses are better than others - probably Tom Welling's likeness is captured the best. Kristin Kreuk's isn't all that great. Allison Mack and Sam Jones aren't bad, as is Michael Rosenbaum. The stories aren't all that long - about half the length of a regular comic, so that's why there was the extra Chloe story and an interview with Allison Mack.
PS - thanks for the links to the websites. Some nice pictures of Allison there!

I wouldn't really say that Chloe is geeky as such. She might be atypical and quirky, but geeky tends to conjure an image of someone nerdy, rather drab and a bit square. I think that the geeky label would more fit someone like Allyson Hannigan (Willow in Buffy) - I don't find her particularly appealing at all, either in a sexual or non-sexual way, whereas Allison Mack oozes sex appeal.
Sure, Allison Mack might play a character whom Clark Kent overlooks in favour of Lana, but I don't think that Chloe would, by any means, be a girl whom someone would only go for because they can't get anyone else to date, like some nerd finding another nerd. I'm betting that there are plenty here who would much rather date Chloe, not because she is a safer and more realistic option than the seemingly unattainable Lana Lang, but because some people actually feel she is hotter than Lana, myself included, and I'm sure Kwick22b would include himself in that too.

I would definetly consider myself in that category. Ever since the first episode I've found myself more attracted to Chloe than to Lana. Physically she's much hotter than Lana, and then you get a great personality in the mix as well.

From what I heard there were only 5 Chloe Chronicles, but I didn't watch the last few because that's when my main computer broke down and I can't download them now! http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/frown.gif But I heard that it didn't end too well (ie it didn't show her in too positive a light or something).
