View Full Version : Who should play Lois Lane?

I'm working on a Supermanip with Tom Welling in the leading role. Who would make a good Lois Lane to complement him (photographically speaking)? At first I selected Anne Hathway (The Princess Diaries), but bottleHed said Nikki Cox would make a better Lois. Today, I was thinking maybe Jennifer Love Hewitt or Christina Ricci. But I'm going to leave it in your hands. Pick an actress between 20 and 27 years old and I will put her in my next manip (which I have been working on for about 2 weeks, so you know it's going to be AWESOME!!!!!). Let me know soon, operators are standing by...

Rumour has it that Drew Barrymore has been making alot of noise about wanting to be Lois (or possibly even Supergirl) and it seems in Hollywood, whatever Drew wants, Drew gets.
It gets even better. Apparently she lobbied to have her production company produce the film for Warner Brothers. It all ties in because it was her company that produced the Charlie's Angels films and, of course, it was McG who directed them.
Drew's involvement in the new movie may be inevitable...
Please, no Drew Barrymore or Christina Ricci. The latter was quite annoying in Ally McBeal and the former rather annoying in the Charlie's Angels movies. I'd rather see someone of a more serious calibre. Even Jennifer Love Hewitt, whom I do like, seems too teeny-bopper-ish.

Allen is about 5 years older than Welling and Beckensale is about 4 years older. As much as I loved the original Superman: The Movie, I'm not trying to go the Margot Kidder route. That's why my request was for someone between 23 and 27. Right now (by my estimate), Clark is a junior or senior on the show. The producers say Chloe's cousin is in college (I think), so I would probably make her a freshman/sophomore, which would put her about 2 or 3 years older than Clark. But I wouldn't want to push it. I know being nearly immortal makes you age slower, but come on! I know what you are going to say, "An actor with range can play a wide number of ages (look at Welling playing a teenager)." But the age thing is something I'm working with.

How about Rachael Leigh Cook? She's only 24, looks like a teen, beautiful, yet at the same time brainy. I think she'd be great as a young Lois!

I recently saw the movie Seabiscuit and thought the actress Elizabeth Banks looked a lot like Lois lane. She played Jeff Bridges character's second wife. She also played Betty Brant in the Spiderman movie. But check out Seabiscuit and tell me what you all think, she looks the part.
I just realised - we're not talking about any actual Lois Lane casting for a movie or Smallville. Just casting for a photomanipulation. Captain Sigma, I think you might be better off posting this in the DCG forum where you could get some artistic insight as well. Everyone who posts here in the other forums, whether or not they are DCG artists, lose their artistic ability once they engage in forum jumping.
I would've said Claire Forlani though for actual movie casting as a potential suggestion.

I understand your concern, Purple Puss, but since it's here let's go for it. I will keep in mind your words for next time, but the photomanip and casting do go hand in hand at times. I was just trying to get a feel of who would be a great casting (for the role and the manip). Anybody but Beyonce'!!!!!

I'm going with Mia Kirshner. She's the right age, 28 (January 25, 1976), she's goregous, and I think (visually) she will make a great Lois Lane (I don't have Showtime, so I haven't seen The L Word, but I hear she's a pretty good actress).

Wow... I would have so suggested her had norrinrad not... nicely done, man. Nicely done indeed.
I think you all are avoiding the fact that margo kidder was, and still is the only girl for the role. now if you excuse me its time for my afternoon vicadin and vodka followed by a nude run through the neighbors lawn. RAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Ok this is my first post on here so go easy one me. But as a huge comic fan (and more importantly a SUperman fan) how about Ashley Scott as Lois? She kicked ass on BOP and we all know Lois can handle herself. Anyway check out the pic at this link and see what ya think.

Wasn't even thinking of this woman for Lois either (although a day doesn't go by that I don't think about her) but how about....... Angelina Jolie. She is one of the sexiest women on the planet and she has the acting chops to do it. Beats the hell out of Ms. Kidder (my apologies to you Margo fans)

That's a good choice there... Can definetely see her as Lois...

I'd rather not go down the Courtney Cox route as Allison Mack suggested. That's too much a retread of old ground along the same lines as Margot Kidder. I think we need a new image for Lois. Ashley Scott could work though. Angelina Jolie seems too sexy for the role - she'd be more at home playing a super heroine than a mere reporter.

I agree she (Angelina Jolie) would be better as a superheroine but my thinking comes from the fact that Lois is one sexy woman (she gets Superman for christ sake) and is tough as hell (Army brat). I just hope they don't screw the pooch on the Lois casting. If they want an unknown how about the girl that played Betty Brant in Spiderman.

As a new member to this board, I would advise you to never again make reference to "BOP" in such a positive manner. J/K I can see that chick working out. but if you ask me, way to hot. Lois is sexy, but in a much more subtle way in my opinon. that chick is just like BAM "LOOK HOW FREEKIN HOT I AM" hot. Im still for selma blair, as main streem a choice that is.

And Jimmy should be played by Seth Green... only way to make the casting more predictable...

Just for humor's sake, I'm gonna make some pretty outrageous casting choices. Tom Welling would have made a great Superman but he's not interested so let's go with Ozzy Osbourne. "It's a bird...It's a plane...It's an incoherent guy in tights biting off the head of a bat..." Rachel Leigh Cook would have been a great Lois Lane but not going to happen anytime soon. So the studios got Roseanne to fill in. Who else to play dysfunctional next to Ozzy? She's controversial and would make a great tabloid reporter. Jimmy Olsen should be a woman. Let's say Paris Hilton. Who else can work a camera like no one else? Finally, Lex Luthor should be played by Verne Troyer (aka Mini-Me). Just his size complex alone can turn anyone evil. Ciao for now!!!!

Natalie Portman is a good candidate for Lois Lane. I guess my second choice would be Charisma Carpenter.

I know this thread is old, but I wanna add my 2 cents. I just don't think they're gonna cast an A-list actress to play this part, cuz I don't think they want a supporting role to outshine the lead!! But I could see Ashley Scott for the role, cuz 1-she's hot, and 2-she's not really known for her big screen roles. I guess it'll all depend on who they cast as Clark. My vote is for Tom!!!! I hear he IS, in fact, reading for the part! Seeing as how it'll be a Warner Bros. film, he would HAVE to be a front-runner in their eyes! But, back on track, I could also see someone like Katie Holmes for the role!! Oh, and I LIKE the Seth Green as Jimmy Olsen suggestion! Either him or like Jamie Kennedy!

I feel that whomever plays Lois Lane should portray her as the opposite of Clark Kent: Confident, popular, glamorous, worldly, even a bit haughty. In Metropolis, she's a local celebrity whose face everyone knows. Because Lois Lane is too good to be simply a news reporter. She should be on TV every night, anchorwoman for Morgan Edge's Galaxy Broadcasting Company's (GBS) Nightly News. Lana Lang had this gig in the comics back in the '70s, but Lois Lane is much more suited for that job.
Think about it. Clark Kent is a country boy (all right, country man) all alone in the Big City. He knows nobody when he first gets there. He lives in a humble apartment. He works as a beat reporter for a demanding warhorse of a boss (a meaner and more aggressive Perry White) that keeps trying to push his buttons to make him stand up for himself. The only person who likes him at all is an eighteen-year-old freckle-faced kid.
Clark Kent is on the lower end of the social spectrum. Lois Lane is on the much higher end. She hob-nobs with the rich and fanous, like Lex Luthor, on a daily basis and is at least close to being a millionaire in her own right (aren't TV anchorpeople in big cities paid an awful lot?) Clark should not seem to have a shot with Lois. I'm not saying turn Clark Kent into Peter Parker, but remember, Clark Kent was looked down upon by others since he was created in 1938. Clark owns the patent on the loveable loser tag in comics. He may even resent the way Lois is interested in Superman but not Clark. Lots to play with here.

Can someone go back in time and get one of the Delaney sisters when they were in their late 20's or early 30's? Kim really had the look, but Dana has the attitude and voice(literally).

Who is SCARLETT JOHANSSEN and what has this actress done to be apparently heavily considered for the role of Lois Lane by WB?

Rent "Lost in translation" and you'll get a pretty good idea who she is. She's a hot blond and she's a great actress. She also starred in "The Girl with the pearl Earings", but I have not seen it nor do I plan on it(looks kinda slow).

I never thought of Johanssen as Lois, but I really like her and I could see it. She has a bit of a .. I dunno.. more gentler looking face for Lois, but she's a strong actress that I think could do teh character justice. I loved both those films as well as Ghost World. Pearl Earring was rather slow and isn't for everyone, but I loved it. I love slow artsy stuff like that anyway.
