View Full Version : Worst Comic Book Game Ever...
The Xenos

This was inspired by the Hellboy game I jsut got today since a friend foudn it in New York. It's pretty bad, but by no means the worst game or comic book game ever. A friend who has it says his Danger Girl game which he showed me once was worse. I think he's right.
Besides Danger Girl, I may also point out the Spider-man 2 game for PS1, as well as way too many Batman games.
Also, anyone remember that old Superman arcade game? You would walk and puch for one level and then fly up and then fly sides ways and can then shoot heat vision lasers? Oh and you fought like a Sliver Surfer looking lfying guy and a spider guy on the wall.
So, any other baaaaaaaad comic book video games that squandered a liscence?

Incredible Hulk: The Pantheon Saga for the Playstation. I found this in a used game store a few years back, thought it looked cool so I picked it up. And then I took it back the next day. It was just so horribly lame. The graphics sucked, the Hulk was very weak, could barely jump at all and took serious damage off of everything. These tiny little robots would come at you and you'd take a lot of damage because you couldn't really hit anything unless it was directly in front of you. Also there wasn't really any story. You just went through, hit things, found a switch, moved up a level, fight a sub boss, find a switch, move up a level. Maybe it's just me, but I need a story to go with my games these days. Sure mindless violence can be fun, but most of the time I want a story to keep me interested in the game.
I think I got all the way through the first section of the game before I just said "screw it" and took it back.
I didn't like Batman: Vengence (I think the name was something like that, it was based on the animated series) for the PS2 very much. I rented this one and it seemed kind of bland and kind of a pain in the ass. There was this one area where you had to jump of the ledge of one building and glide to the next. I fell to my death something like a dozen times before I finally made it.
Finally, many years ago, they made an X-Men game for the Nintendo which was pretty bad. The charaters were all pretty much just little blobs of color on the screen which was just a larger blob of color. You could only use each charecter's power once before you ran out of power, you could barely move, and again there was this thing where if the bad guy wasn't right in front of you, you weren't going to hit it.
There was one game for the Nintendo that was kind of fun. It was a Superman game and it had most of his powers. It was a side scrolling game and it was a little weird because all the characters looked like they would only be about three feet tall in real life. It was still fun though, and you could even change into Clark Kent by going into phone booths.

Jeez, all the good stuff happens after that. Like fighting the Joker(a few times), Poison Ivy's plant clones(remember the episode of TAS where her cloned children turned into big Hulk looking things) and fighting Mr. Freeze. Well, you don't really fight Mr. Freeze, you stay as far away from him as possible. Definitely not the worst superhero game. Could have been better though.

I rather liked Vengence, though I gave up on it after I could not beat Freeze. I think I was able to hit him once. I would have kept on trying, but saving in the game sucked, because you'd have to go through the whole level again.
Also, I also liked the Danger Girl game. I played it non-stop for quite some time.
Anyways, bad games-- that Superman TAS game for N64 (maybe PS1 as well). That one really stunk. It was cool because you could fly and use all his powers, but some of the stuff was just really lame, like having to fly in a bunch of rings to catch something, forgot now what it was.

Yeah, I really hate when games make you go through an entire level. That sucks big time. Fighting Freeze(the second time) is pretty easy as long as you avoid the ice beams. You have to attach an explosive to those moving cryogenic tanks and wait for Freeze to get close to one. Then you detonate and the tank falls on him causing damage. But you have to keep repeating this over and over again to get him down.

The tintin games for SNES/GENESIS sucked. They were based on "tinTin in Tibet" and "Prisoners of the Sun". They had silly puzzles where you could lose health for bumping into someone in a museum. BOOOORING

Thats the thing, it was so hard to get an explosive on one that he would walk under. because the darn things would move, and he would too. It just pissed me off so much that I vowed never to play the game again.
But aside from that, I really loves the game. I absolutley loved climbing the buildings and gliding and stuff. That was just cool.

Maybe I judged the game to harshly. I was having a pretty lousy day when I rented it and that probably had something to do with my not enjoying it. Maybe I'll give it another shot down the line.

I didn't like THE HULK for Genisis.it was too hard to move.
The SNES had a few XMENs that were bad,but one pleased me with it's characters and it had pretty good graphics for SNES.the guys were:Beast Gambit Psylocke Cyclops maybe Pheonix and a few others,i think.
The skating rink here in town has a cool Xmen game, again the characters make it cool http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/biggrin.gifazzler Colossus Logan Nightcrawler Cyclops Storm.u fight Pyro Juggernaut Magneto and more.
the worst was BATMAN:VENGEANCE tied with SUPERMAN for N64.
