Well day one of E3 is underway and already

For a good overview of the lastest news, I suggest checking: The Magicbox (http://www.the-magicbox.com/gaming.htm).

Likely the the biggst news is about the new portables. Sony ahs their PSP system and Nintendo has their DS Dual Screen system. I honestly don't know which one is better. Graphics wise PSP is a bit better at about Dreamcast level where the DS is better than N64 and near Dreamcast. Though the DS has the two screens and still somehow a longer baterylife. PLus they ahve a touchscreen. I heard the PSP may have one, but Sony has been reducing a number of features since their initial lsit of features, so I dunno if it has one still. Both ahve wireless connections with Nindo saying up to 16 players can play at once on some games.

On the game side of the new portables, the PSP has Metal Gear Solid: Acid (http://www.the-magicbox.com/0405/game051104g.shtml) (HELL YEAH!) and Spider-man and anumber of others. The DS has Metroid Hunters (http://www.the-magicbox.com/0405/game051104n.shtml)and an updated Mario 64 and Mario Kart (http://www.the-magicbox.com/0405/game051104k.shtml).

here are the specs on each
PSP (http://www.the-magicbox.com/0405/game051104a.shtml)
DS (http://www.the-magicbox.com/0405/game051104b.shtml)

Also.. ZELDA! (http://www.the-magicbox.com/0405/game051104c.shtml) Go to Nintendo.com right now and get the trailer for this! this is freaking gorgeous! Hell, this is looking better than most movies coming out in the next couple of years! Even though Windwaker was good, yeah, teh look was a bit off putting. This is what fans have been waiting for! This is going to be big. Miyamoto is awesome. It is because of this man that I lean a bit more toward Nintendo even though I got a PS2. thankfully my die hard Nintendo fan roomate has a Gamecube as well as another roomate.

Also, we get some new screens of the Bebop Game (http://www.the-magicbox.com/0405/game051204i.shtml) for fans of those space cowboys.

If this is light on the X-Box news... well I don't give a crap about X-Box. They announced Halo 2 which everyone is talking about, but I relaly don't care about it. Halo is good, but it really isn't that great. the best thing about it, to me, are those Red vs Blue short fan animations from it.

Well, i'm sure there will be more later.

Great first day. I went over to www.ign.com (http://www.ign.com) and caught some videos of the PSP games in action (albeit 2 second clips) and that is looking great. Hopefully at the Tokyo Game Show they will lay out a price point. The Nintendo DS looks very cool, but they are not calling it the next Game Boy, they say it's a whole different line...odd.

Gamewise, i'm excited on the X-Men Legends front, check out a previous post for some in game footage of that. I'm excited to see Gran Turismo on PSP, it looks awesome. MG: Acid, Twisted Metal, Socom, and other games are looking promising on the PSP front. I got to see videos for Mark of Kri 2, that looks awesome...and online, even better. I'm waiting to see more info on Killzone, Shellshock, Ratchet and Clank3, and lots more at E3.

Nice to have Nintendo let Link grow up a little, the new Zelda looks very nice. Metroid, looks very cool....it's a pity they have crappy online support for the Gamecube...this game supports multiplayer...but it would be awesome over a network.

Xbox, i don't have one so i kinda don't pay much attention. I did see the Halo 2 walkthru...and it looks good, as is expected.

a site i hit alot for game trailers is http://www.gametrailers.com/ you can download them and view them offline.

Wow, that new Zelda game looks pretty friggin' cool. I can't wait to hear what the storyline is. I'm still waiting for something to beat 'Ocarina'.

That game trailers site rules. Thanks.

There one game that I had't heard before or rather caught me off guard. When i saw the trailer for Mercenaries I really thought it was kick ass. It's like GTA meets Vin Diesel's XXX on a battlefield. It doesn't look too different or revolutionary, but it just looks fun as hell. It's a nice mix of elements and who doesn't wanna carjack a helicoper or a tank, especially in the middle of a battlefield. Plus you blow up building and stuff.

Oh a dispaointing note, I found out the PSP Metal Gear (sans Solid) game is gonna be a turn based strategy game. The sneaking and missions you go on are rgualted by like a card system. Meh.. I am not that interested in it now. Plus the PSP and Sony's specs on it keep sounding more iffy. They keep wiffing on details like battery life and other things. Plus things they said they were planning in the past, like the touch screen, I belive are just not happening.

the best part about Mercenaries is that it looks really good on the PS2. When i caught the feed i thought it was Xbox graphics...it was actually PS2...i was surprised. It definitely a game to keep an eye on.

I'm really getting into Killzone....i thought the game was all hype...and the game footage i've seen looks solid.

Fight Club is sounding intriguing (but then again the first rule about Fight Club the game is not to talk about it).

Rise of the Kasai (http://ps2.ign.com/articles/514/514572p1.html) looks very good, check out the videos.

oh well, the last day is today...wonder what we will see today.
