Okay, I own a Gamecube (I own all of the consoles) and I just realized I haven't played a damn thing on it in forever. I'm looking to go back and play MGS: Twin Snakes...but that's just to revist the MGS in nextgen console glory. There just has not been much to excite me on this system. I played a demo of Metroid Prime Echoes, and it's pretty much just the same game as before. Resident Evil 4 looks interesting, but it's lost it's exclusiveness to the PS2. Is it just me or is Nintendo not having a major holiday season? I look at the games I want to play, they are either on the PS2, Xbox, or PC.

I agree, it's like, Gamecube just stopped. I remember buying mine, defying the suggestions of all of my friends, mostly for the exclusive games, like the Mario, Zelda, Starfox etc titles. Well, "Mario Sunshine" was fun, we need another Mario game. "Starfox", though most people liked it, they were a different audience than of the first games. "Starfox 64" is one of my all-time favorite games, but the one for GC was just too different. There was also "Super Smash Bros. Melee" which I loved, and "Metroid Prime", but thats really about it for me. Hopefully the upcoming Zelda game will breathe some more life to Nintendo.

Since video game consoles started popping up in the 80's, only two system can survive at once, and there is usually a dominate one.
Atari and Nintendo.
Genesis and Super NES.
Playstation and N64.
and now,
PS2 and X-Box.
Gamecube is the odd man out, and it is hard to thrive in the video game industry as number 3. Think of all the failed systems, Lynx, Sega CD, Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast, Jaguar etc.

Well, Metroid Prime 2 Echoes just came out. My roomate cancelled his preo-order and it's killing him because he didn't have enough money and has too many bills (and other previous games). I must say the commertial for MP2 just amde my jaw drop when I saw it It's the one with the armor forming in the shadows on a girl walking down a hall.
Though he did just get the Naruto 3 fighting game for Gamecube, but that's coming in the mail as it is an import. I gotta say the last two (for GC, not the PS2 ones) are some of the best and innovative fighting games I've seen in years. It's based on the manga (out here in Shonen Jump) and anime of teh same name. I actually gave up on the show a while ago, but I still love this game.
Also, Nintendo is releasing the DS this weekend. I'm getting it as an early Christmas gift. I'd rather get a DS than wait and get a PSP. The PSP may be sleeker and have beter graphics, but it still has questionable battery time, the prices for the system and the games are higher, and I really don't like a portable disk system. The PSP looks to be jsut a portable port of PS2 games at almost PS2 capacity and at the price of those games. The DS is cheaper and looks jsut like somehting different and has interesting possibilites. It also will have a longer battery life. Plus on a screen that small I'll take just above Dreamcast graphics as well as near PS2 graphics.

Oh yeah, that new Zelda game for the Gamecube looks amazing. Hell, I might have to get a Gamecube when that sucker comes out. I dunno if I can just standby and watch for this new one. I played Orcarina of Time on my rooamte's N64 and watching him play Windwaker on his Gamecube. Played some of that when a friend traded my PS2 for his GC for a bit.

I think Nintendo is missing out on a lot of opportunities. First off, no BIG releases for the Gamecube this holiday season. Yes, Metroid Prime 2...but it looks the same as the first one. Second, no online support other than Phantasy Star...and i'll bet you that game is empty for the most part. I'm not a big online gamer, but there is a market for it. I never played Animal Crossing, but all of the stuff I saw on that screamed for online. Last, is this really the system for the mature gamer, with the disposable income (my income is not disposable, but you know what i mean)? How many Mario games can you play? It took them this long to let Link be something other than what looked like a child.
Nintendo will not catch up to Sony, and they are likely going to lose the race with the Xbox, just because it (Xbox) has the "must have" games that the Gamecube does not.
I think Nintendo is doing a very poor job of handling their console. for god's sake it's $99.....if you flooded the market with games you would clean up (they don't all have to be good either). that's what Sony does, and their console is king.

to further prove the point of "What happened to the Gamecube?"
Gamespy's Gamecube Top Ten Games (http://goty.gamespy.com/2004/gcn/)
X-men Legends, 007 Everything or Nothing, Tiger Woods, etc. These cross platformed games make an appearance in this list only due to the fact that the Gamecube has so few BIG games that are system sellers. Is anyone going to buy a Gamecube for Paper Mario? It's like Nintendo peaked in the 16 to 64 bit days.
