hmmm...well, i was disappointed in the first one (i still own it....it's fun to play at parties, not as much fun as Burnout3) only because of the repetitive levels. i liked the AI, it was nice to see AI take cover and respond to grenades, etc.

anyways, i have the new one in my Gamefly queue and i hit the usual sites for the early reviews.

incidentally...if you purchase Halo 2....you get a free 2 month subscription to Xbox Live. Like you really needed another reason to buy Halo 2.

okay...i've played this thing for a while (the entire weekend). here are some thoughts.

it's a good game...a good FPS, probably the best one out there right now (until Half Life 2 hits). there is some real tense fire fights, as well as some stealth moments (if you choose to). the story is a continuation from the first one...and honestly, i could care less. it's not bad so far, there is a twist which i will not talk about for those maybe getting this game for the holidays. i played multiplayer, it's nice....you will get owned....accept it. i have a pretty big beef about multiplayer. the pistol was an unbalanced weapon in Halo, the Elite Sword is the new pistol in Halo 2. It is a one hit kill wonder weapon in multiplayer, there were guys just tearing ass with that damn thing in multiplayer. it's not necessarily a skill weapon, you can take gunfire and get in close to stick someone with it. of course skill is a loose word in deathmatch games, in general it's shoot, run, and survive. it was still fun. jacking vehicles and dual wielding the needler.....that's fun stuff.

they are really pushing xbox live with this game. i still wish they would throw bots into this game. it would be nice to have when just playing with some friends to throw in some extra bodies to increase the mayhem.

all in all....a good game. there is still some repetition that i think really kills the game, there are times where your not sure where to go....but you can figure it out.

Right now my roomates and I are trying to take a break from Halo 2. Wait. Scratch that. My roomate with another friend's X-Box is back to trying to beat harder levels.

Anyway, I played though a bunch of the single player on co-op. The story was pretty good. The action was pretty good. The ending, well if you could call it that, was lame. It didn't end. There are cliffhangers.. and then there's just not having and damn ending. I sure hope we're wrong and there's more story and levels if you go into harder levels, but right now, that ending sucked and everyone is pissed off at it.

Yeah, bots would have been nice in multiplayer. I keep thinking this isn't that revolutionary. I rather prefered what I saw of Unreal Tournement 2004. 2003 was just ok, but I think 2004 got it really good. Halo isn't much better that UT2004, if not UT2004 being a bit better than Halo. For all the hype.. well, nothing could live up to the damn hype around this game.

Also, there are some people who are just too damn freaking good with the energy sword. Ha. I do love the 'sticky bombs' myself.

Still, Halo 2 is great fun, esepecially multiplpayer with mutiple X-Boxes and screens. I still prefer FPS on teh PC and I rather don't like the X-Box itself, but I gotta admit Halo 2 is a lot of fun and pretty good.

Ok, I think my roomate has been playing Halo a bit too much. He's started singing to it. I yelled at him, "Halo is not a musical dammit!" but he didn't stop.

that is a bit too much. he can get the music on CD...i've seen it for sale. http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/smile.gif

i started catching the reviews for Half Life 2 today....be interesting to see which one is the better FPS.

the last two months of the year are just awesome. there is so much quality gaming out there. and we still have GT4 (i don't think this will pull me away from Burnout3), MGS3 Snake Eater, Prince of Persia 2, and i'm sure there are many more.

what a crap ending! i have to say the ending was very lame, very anti-climatic. i was ready to go for another round...and the credits started to roll. surprisingly short. i can go back and do legendary....but WOW, that is friggin hard. i spent half of the time cowering, either behind cover or ducked down.

the way it ends, there will obviously be a Halo3, likely on the next Xbox. SPOILERS i hope it returns with Master Chief with a more predominant role.

it's not very difficult at all (normal was fairly straighforward....legendary, well that's hard), and surprisingly short. i just played it on and off since it came out and BAM, i was done. no large investment of time. i even took a break to beat Ratcheht and Clank 3, and plow thru 2 bosses on MGS3. if your a big online guy, then you will have some fun with this. it's fun, you'll enjoy it.

Ha! I find that comment funny as hell. I was playing a friend's verison, on co-op and it was all too short. All my friends who played it were pissed at how short it was. For such a hyped up game it felt gypted on what they acutally included on it. Even the multiplayer seemed to have few maps. Though maybe I'm spoiled with PC game series like Half Life and Unreal Tournement. Still a friend kept playing harder levels to unlock anying, but there was nothing else except a slightly longer cinematic, I think.

makes it easier for me to decide not to try and mess with legendary. i thought it would have some hidden stuff in it....guess not. oh well i can go online and get spanked. the online is nothing compared to Unreal Tourney, or even Ratchet and Clank 3 (who's online is similar to Unreal).

don't get us wrong Zac, this is a good game, great with friends, etc. it was just surprisingly short abd the ending was a let down.

Woooo! I played it for a while and I must say, I love it! lol, I probably think that I'm doing good, but I'm just now to the part where you're on that spider-thing so I'm probably just at the beginning. Either way, awesome game. I'll try not to get my hopes up about the ending though.

dude, your 3/4 the way thru the game......just joking. the gameplay is very solid from beginning to end. it's just over too quick. enjoy the shooting happiness that is halo2.
