has anyone read the hulk script review at aint-it-cool-news? it says that there's all kinds of fight scenes including one where hulk fights a superpowered super villain. has anyone heard anything about this? this is news to me.

I think early rumors said that it was Absorbing Man.

There were some rumors in April 2002 that said that Bruce's father was going to turn into the Absorbing Man. I'm not sure how true it was though since they also mentioned a hulk-rat.

Mr. C!
A....... Hulk-- RAT?? What, exactly, does that mean? That he would be fighting a rat that gets caught in a Gamma Radiation explosion and becomes the nemesis to which the Hulk will then fight?
Please explain, sir!

Here's a copy of the article I got it from. Like I said, I really doubt it's true because it's from April 2002 and I doubt they would change the Hulk this much.
"An Aint-It-Cool-News scooper divulged some...well, some really friggin' weird Hulk plot specifics. Purisits beware, this aint yo daddy's Hulk. And it's not your Hulk. I'm pretty sure this isn't anybody's Hulk, but we'll see. Here come the spoilers!
David Banner was a radiation scientist who passed some kind of gamma ray contamination onto his son Bruce. There are scenes in flashback of David and Mrs. Banner testing the baby to see iif he is contaminated, scenes of the kid crawling funny and dveloping weirdly. Then at some point David Banner stabs the mother, and the baby Bruce reacts but doesn't seem to "Hulk out" (this is how the document describes the transformation.) Other tidbits:
David Banner is the Absorbing Man in this, and only transforms at the end, from what I can gather. Both the Absorbing Man and the Hulk are stuck in a frozen lake at what point.
There are Hulk dogs which attack Betty and Bruce, and even a Hulk rat. Also nano-cytes or something nonsensical mentioned.
Hulk-Rat, huh. Interesting."

You know, after reading those "spoiler" type thing's from "aint it cool news", I would have to think that that stuff was just all baloney. I would put all of it in the same category of news that they had when the first draft ideas were coming out about how HULK was initially being thought of being shown on a space station in the future, or some such hogwash.

SPOILER!!!!
After reading a review for the Hulk it seems that everything Cordell mentioned in his post is a actually in the film. The only thing I didn't see in the review was a "Hulk rat".

***SPOILER***
Having read the comic adaptation(i know i know.. impatient or what!) these rumours do indeed seem to be fact.. although the name 'absorbing man' isnt mentioned the power shown seems similar..

Hey LH!
So, you are saying, that there IS some validity to Hulk fighting a super powered villain? I don't know, it dosen't seem possible.... nothing in the trailers, or in the commercials or ANYTHING seems to suggest that that will happen, save for the enlarged dogs that are created to fight him. I've seen those in the trailer.

Well Bigkid, someone behind the scenes must want to surprise people. Frankly, I'm glad that someone out there in the movie industry still believes in the element of surprise! If you watch the last trailer they had for Spider-Man you'll see almost every exciting moment that was in the movie. That's probably another reason I didn't enjoy it as much as others seemed to.
Too bad I've already read the spoilers on this because I haven't been surprised by what happens in any of the hyped films I've seen in recent years(except for X2's Jean Grey subplot).

The absorbing man, IS in the movie, as it appears, he already has an action figure released. Oh yes, the figure is labeled David banner. The absorbing man is NO rumor.

Well, considering that the comic adaptation has The Hulk fighting a villain who can absorb the properties of whatever he touches, and the lastest issue of The Hulk has a new arc featuring Crusher Creel, I think the evidence is pretty conclusive at this point. I'm just amazed they were able to keep it a secret for this long.
