Hulk producer Avi Arad already has the film's screenwriter/producer, James Schamus, working hard on Hulk 2. Schamus says his script further delves into Bruce Banner's epic struggle with his inner demons, resulting in the emergence of an evil, gray-hued Hulk. Shamus says he's toying with the idea of incorporating two possible villains: The Leader (described by Lee as "a giant-head brainiac") and The Abomination ("a big ugly guy the same size as the Hulk").

Now i personally havent seen the first flim yet as i want to wait to see it at the fliks, you know how them FX are ruined in the early versions on the net...
but i have heard some semi-positive stuff about it, enough for them to gear up for a sequel....still - the more comic book films the better!

I think the ending was hinting that he had more control over the Hulk now; that the events beforehand had changed him somehow. He was not at all worried about changing into the Hulk then, even though there were many innocent people around. Banner is not irresponsible. Unless he had more control over the Hulk, he would try his hardest NOT to hulk-out with all those innocents around.

I don't think they would start work that soon on the next one.....

I think the next movie will be a Hulk vs a supervillian.
early talk is that both the Leader and the Abomination will be in it.

I think it should have Abomination in it. The Leader would just lead too far away from what the first movie established.

Actually I wouldn't want to see The Leader because I think he's got too much in common with Banner's dad. Both are superintelligent madmen that are trying to steal Hulk's strength by manipulating Bruce.

You make a good point, but the right script could make the Leader interesting and he is one of the major Hulk villians along with the Abomination. If Ang Lee is back he will probably incorporate the Leader just b/c it adds a cerebral quality to the film. The Abomination clashing with the Hulk in the desert would be cool and hopefully only one of them will emerge alive, kind of like the

With the Hulk now at about $103 million in box office money, it's never too early to talk sequal...

I think it will be a more action/adventure type movie with the multi/screen approach that we saw in the first movie now gone.
It might also have a bit more of a comic book feeling to it.

I highly doubt there will be a Hulk sequel. The mainstream movie-going public went into the theatres expecting a summer popcorn flick and got a thinking film with less-than-believable CGI. The film crumbled 70% in its 2nd frame and should break even when it finishes its domestic run (150 million plus marketting and distribution costs). There is plenty of bad word-of-mouth about this movie among casual moviegoers. This type of financial performance does not show the demand for a sequel.
I liked the film (thought they took way too long to bring out the Hulk, tho), but I wouldn't be surprised if the Hulk sequel never gets past the "development hell" phase like the Superman and Batman movies are in now.

To be fair, the first X-Men movie wasn't that good but it still got a sequel and look how well that turned out. And I don't think you can label people who didn't like the film as 'mainstream' or middle america. Obviously there are people who enjoyed The Hulk or else there wouldn't be so much debate about it. I'm sure a lot of people who didn't like The Hulk actually enjoyed 'Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon'. M Knight Shyamalan's films hardly have any action but they are still well received. And another film that some people think is slow but is actually one of my favorites is Memento. I just don't think Hulk measures up to those movies even though it desperately tried to do so.

Hulk is now up to $120 million at the Box Office, and Yes it measures up to any and all of the crappy movies they have made this summer.

This week, according to movie website www.boxofficeguru.com (http://www.boxofficeguru.com) : "The Hulk continued its freefall tumbling 55% to $3.7M giving the comic book character $124.7M worth of green." That's not a lot to shout about when a movie cost at least $130 million (more like $150 million) to make. In order for a sequel to be on the fast-track, the original film cannot underperform financially. Which THE HULK did. Big time. Domestically, it STILL hasn't made its money back.
And word-of-mouth has been disappointing. No one but die-hard Hulksters was expecting a father/son drama. Most movie-goers wanted an entertaining popcorn flick with heart, like SPIDER-MAN or X2 : X-MEN UNITED. If a HULK 2 does somehow get made, don't expect Ang Lee back as director. He sounds drained in interviews when talking about making the Hulk and not enthusiastic about returning to the franchise.
It's really sad to witness that for once we get a blockbuster with brains, which respects the intelligence of its audience, and that's precisely the point the main audience didn't like about it.
Over here, all the movie got is (well-deserved) praise, and is still on top of the box office in its third week.
But hey, I don't live in America. (please don't mistake this post as contempt, just a cultural difference I guess)

Blockbuster with brains? Um, maybe a blockbuster that gives you time to think, but I wouldn't exactly say this movie had brains behind it. If anything I would say this more of a popcorn flick than X2 or Matrix Reloaded. Shadowchaser made a good point in another thread about the "A-Team" factor in Hulk. Showing all the military guys crawling out of tanks or hearing them over the radio saying "we're okay" was playing down to an audience. We've got soldiers dying every week in real life but these guys are going to escape with their lives against The Hulk?
Not to mention an almost "friendly" looking Hulk who was so bright green at times that he looked like a gummy bear.
And am I the only one who found it unbelievable that the guy who played Talbot was physically manhandling Eric Bana? And speaking of Talbot, if that wasn't a cartoonish performance then I need to go into acting.

The Hulk will be quite profitable though. Here in the states it'll get back it's budget in ticket sales (or come close), then it'll cleap up with the dvd/video sales. Then you add to this world-wide ticket sales and dvd/video sales and you have a movie that will have made a profit (even after taking out for marketing). The studios think in terms of greed and I don't see them another budget of $150 mil. for a Hulk sequel unless Ang really pushes for it, which I doubt he will. A Hulk sequel would be better for sure b/c there is no longer any need for a back story or set-up. Audiences know the Hulk situation and now he can take up a lot more screentime and battle the Leader and Abomination. This franchise has lots of possibilities and what would have helped is if the budget could have been lower as with the X-Men.
