Anyone else with me? I wanted to see if anyone else liked this and yet feels pressured by critics and comic fan purists to not like this movie. I don't know what it was, but there was a lot of negativity aimed at this film. From fans and critics who complained aobut Hulk's look to those that didn't like Ang Lee's pyschodrama or this comic panel frames. (Though I admit it was done a bit much, I liked it).
Does anyone else have friends and fellows comic fans who try to convince them that Hulk was a terrible movie? That Ang Lee was a horrible director? Popularity wise, sure maybe it would have been more mass appealing to ahve someone else, but I liked this work. Plus I persoanlly always wonder if Hollywood and American constanly has a prejudice against Asian directors and film.
Just wondering if anyone else feels that they in the same baot. That Hulk is like Rodney Dangerfield, he don't get no respect. Puny humans no understand Hulk.

Well, I liked it. Sure there where a few things I personally would have changed, and others I might have left out. But there wasn't really anything that stopped me from enjoying it.
I don't really ever feel pressured by the world to like or dislike something. When it comes to most things I just go and see if I like it. Don't really see how it should matter to anyone else if I like something.

Hell i enjoyed the movie.. maybe because all the negativity about the movie lowered my expectations considerably.. but the movie was definetely pretty good to watch, atleast once..
Hulk was so much better than Daredevil, which seemed just like a bunch of scenes shot and strung together..

--I too thoroughly enjoyed this movie.
Did it have its bad points? Absolutely, but I think the good far outweighed the bad.
My main problem with the film was the use of the the elder Banner as a Supervillain. I think he would have made a much more powerful villain if they kept it to the creepy, psychologically-damaging Dad aspect.

You can also add me to the list of people who were thoroughly satisfied with the movie. Strangely enough it was exactly what I was expecting, right down to the vague sense of deja vu I felt while watching it. When you think about it this is a film that could easily have been made to appeal to the lowest common denominator, so I applaud Ang Lee's courage in applying his own vision to the material. His Hulk was a tortured creature closer in spirit to Frankenstein's monster (a faithful nod to the comics) than a mindless machine of destruction mass marketed to a summer audience. I can just imagine what this film would have been like had a big populist director like Michael Bay gotten ahold of it. Lee's version was a re-interpretation of a classic character, absolutely, but a very interesting and thoughtful one, addressing themes of identity, abandonment, and legacy. Anyone who deplores cookie cutter filmmaking should at least admire what the director tried to do with this movie, even if personal taste prevents one from loving it.
I really hope Lee gets a chance to continue the franchise because I would love to see where he takes Banner next. Considering a sequel has apparently been green lit (the DVD sales allowed Universal to break even) we may just see Lee direct the next installment after all.

That is a fantastic description of how it went wrong. The writer/ director just didn't have it all together. Hulk seemed to be more coherent.

I really liked this film! I thought it had a terrific story, and I couldn't have been more satisfied with how they did justice to the origins of the character. I did think that they went a little nuts toward the end with Nick Nolte's character with his son, but other than that, I was really entertained. If a lot of people didn't get it, well, what are ya gonna do, right? For the most part, a lot of critics did like it, and people who I know saw it thought that it was a lot of fun, too. But the most AMAZING thing was, that it made, like, 150 mil domestically, and pulled in ANOTHER 100 mil+ internationally, and people STILL thought that it was a box office BOMB! Strange, that...........
I thought this film was alot like X-men, some good action but mostly just a whole lotta pretext, now that thats all out of the way we can have a kickass sequal. unfortunatley I dont think the studio belives in it anymore.
All in all it was a good movie with a few flaws we all know what they are so i wont get into them. Except one, the Hype. way to much. with the merchandising, and the commercials, just blew it way out of proportian. For me it was a good thing, cuz I came into the theatre with low expectations. But for the rest of the public they thought they were going to see 2 hours of Hulk smash, but got more around 20 minuts.
