View Full Version : Daredevil Soundtrack (So Far)

Man, am I the only one, or is anybody else hyped about this film by the soundtrack alone?

It seems like they're going to much greater lengths to make the soundtrack fit the film... In fact, I believe all we've heard so far (four songs?) are all original tracks written for the film.

First of all, you have Drowning Pool and Rob Zombie providing the quasi-title track, Man Without Fear. This is your obligatory high-energy track, and it delivers... I hate the circumstances under which the collaboration was formed (the death of Drowning Pool's frontman), but Rob's vocals with DP's music is truly a great pairing. The song itself throws in all the cliche's about justice, blindness, etc. that we wanna hear. My money is that this'll be the first song that plays on the end credits.

Then there's Evanescence. Although the official sites only list Bring Me To Life, it seems like they'll be providing an additional song: My Immortal Both of these songs are great; more importantly, they're perfect for describing the mood and emotion between Matt/Daredevil and Elektra. I must admit, the latter of the two songs almost gets me teary-eyed, because well... It (1) almost guarantees in my mind that we'll see one of the most tragic scenes in comic book history translated to film, and (2) it does the scene perfect justics. Just listen to the lyrics. "And if you have to leave, I wish that you would just leave / Cause your presence still lingers here, and it won't leave me alone." Man, if this is what I think it is, this is going to be such an amazing movie.

What I think also speaks to me is the variety they're developing in this soundtrack. We're not just getting an original Nickelback song and stuff like The Strokes and The Hives thrown in as we did with Spidey... We're getting a rollercoaster. We're getting the mournful tracks and the fist-pumping rock. It's so awesome that they were unafraid to go in such directions, and I hope it is representative of what they're doing for the film. If it is, then it means they're going to push the limits. They're going to go places Raimi might've thought was too risky to go. That would be amazing.

Yeah, and I'm their brother too. We're all a big happy Stricklin family.

Just kidding actually. http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/wink.gif

But anywho, let me just say that I REALLY love the 2 songs by Evanscence. After hearing "Bring Me to Life", I downloaded more stuff by them, and then when I heard they had 2 songs on the DD soundtrack, I almost fainted.

Anyone know where there's an ofitial DD Soundtrack listing?

Personally, and this is totally NOT a rumor or a fact or anything but personal desire, I'd love to see '97 ways to kill a superhero' by Loudermilk on there. Not only is it somewhat aptly titled for a superhero movie, but some of the lines remind me of DD and Elektra (among other things *sigh*).

Also is Evanescence's My Immortal also on there with 'Bring Me To Life' or is this just speculation? I agree that's a great song for DD and Elektra as well.

Dang, I'm really digging Evenescence. Aparently they do kinda have an album out, 'Origin', but it's not in wide release and hard to find. Darth Z said it was released by BigWig Records. This March their 'debut' album 'Fallen' is out. I really enjoy their sound and really want to find these CDs. I've tracked most if not all of Origin on like Kazaa, but I really want the legit CD. I found alot of 'Fallen' too, but it's got those damn loops, kinda like record skips and screaches.

I also found that Drowning Pool / Rob Zombie DD song, but that also had those loops. Well, it's another CD I want to hunt down anyway.

Man, I wish Evanescence did the entire soundtrack. Really, I do! I can't stand the rest of it. I know I'm stepping on some metal heads but imagine if the soundtrack was composed almost entirely of hip-hop or country. I don't think that would go over to well. And I don't know what that moaning is that Moby decided to call a song. I guess he got tired of competing with Fatboy Slim so all of a sudden he's real musician. Give me a break.

Dang. I just finally heard 'Bring me to Life' on the radio. They played it on 104.1 WAAF here in Boston. Plus after the song the host said she had been getting a lot of calls from people rabidly asking about it and the band. She liked repeasted that it was Evanescene a number of times. I really love this song and I think it might be a hit. Man I was so buzzed.

Also, one of their limited or early CDs 'Origin' was availible off their old label's website. I recently ordered it via paypal. If they become popular, I don't know how many copies they're gonna have left. They got a new 'debut' CD coming out March 4 called 'Fallen'.

You have got to explain that one Xenos. What's it like to be partly goth? Is it like being a little bit country and a little bit rock 'n roll?

The Xenos

Heck if I know. I'm kinda having goth tendencies, but yet I'm not really goth. Like I still wears jeans and white t-shirts. Still got an obsession with Death (from Sandman comics) though. Got Death and Sandman pics up across the room, but also non-gothy comics and anime. Yet one of my favorite new anime is the dark vampire series Hellsing. Plus there's my Zim obsession. And I started wearing a trench. But still I'm not as goth as most goths you see.

So I guess I知 semi-goth. I知 quasi-goth. I知 the margarine of goth. I知 the Diet Coke of goth, just one calorie, not goth enough.

Eh, I'm going to mope to My Immortal again.

Well, I got it. At the mall and on the way back on the subway, I mainly was listening to Evanescence's two songs. Still the others sounded good. Fuel's sounded good and quite good for DD. Drowing Pool and Rob Zombie's song is kinda cheesy, but catchy and not bad. Moby's song 'Evening Rain' was pretty good. Plus I was listening to it in the rain. Anyway, gonna check it out some more.

Evanescence. . .great band (I'm kinda biased though cause I know 2 of the guys in the band) As far as the metal thing goes, no, not quite, I'd call em hard rock personally. Funny thing about that, Rocky (the drummer) plays guitar in 2 really heavy bands one band's called Living Sacrifice and the other is called Soul Embraced (both bands can be found on Kazaa and MP3.com)(Evanescence does a cover of one of their songs on the new album, it's called "Tourniquet.) And John used to be in a really heavy band called Mindrage (great band) Good to see these guys blowing up big, I'll give Rocky y'alls feedback next time I catch him on AIM.

Ok, been listening to the non-Evanescence tracks as well. Of them the first 5 are good. Fuel's is good and catchy. Moby's is nice. Really like the Hoobstank one. The Revis one is good as in the Boysetsfire one. One song I could do without on here is the Autopilot Off song. Not a bad song, but just sounds out of place. Overall, a fantastic colelction of songs. PLus it feels more connected and relevent than the Spider-man one.

Still, a big draw for me is Evanescence. I think they're gonna be big. I'm very very happy to hear that back home I recived their local release album 'Origin'. I found out this week that it has now sold out on their label's website which is where you order it. Very happy to have snagged that. I got most of the songs on mp3, but I wanted the CD.

Evanescence is a great band... I got some of their tracks for download this week, and I have to honestly say I'm impressed... and thank GOD a female vocalist is finally out there in a band most likely to be really popular... that way I can tell all those skater punks out there that Gwen Stefani *shudders* is not the be all end all of chick vocalists.

(If you can't tell, I despise Gwen Stefani.)

But the next best track on the album, right below "My Immortal" for number two would have to be the Finger Eleven track... I know, I liked the band to begin with, so I'm a little biased, but STILL, it's a damn good track... and if you want to argue with me about it... too bad, I'm too lazy for that right now...

I also like Evanescence's songs the best, and "Bring Me Back to Life" is imo the best track in the whole album. Aside from this song, I also like songs by The Calling, Fuel, Rob Zombie + Drowning Pool, etc. Overall, it's a pretty good soundtrack.

Why did'nt they just approach Tool about doing this soundtrack instead of some rip off "goth" band.I would assume it would be to keep with the general theme of the flick, cliche ridden and contrived schlock for the limp bizket generation. One word sums up this soundtrack, and I'll quote Bullseye on this "shite". I will admit however, that it does fit this b-film perfectly. A Corny quick fix.

O.k... to say that Evanescence is a "rip off" goth band could not be further from the truth, fact is at least half of the members of the band are seasoned musicians (some of them with a good amount of touring behind them) Also to the person who said the track "My Immortal" didn't fit anywhere in the movie, well I guess you were wrong, both songs by Evanescence fit perfectly with the scene they were put in.
