Jennifer Garner wasn't bad, but I think Jessica Alba might have been better.

Jennifer Garner would have been perfect if they dye her hair black and straightened it.
They should have also gave her the right costume, the red silky sexy costume. Not the black lethear costume, its a Catwoman costume.

The movie reminds me of Batman and Catwoman in Batman Returns.

I had my complaints about Jennifer Garner. She played the part very well, but something just about her look didn't thrill me. However, I would've shot myself, had they casted Jessica Alba.

I would've said somebody greek but then they did go non-caucasian with Kingpin so we can't be too narrow-minded..I'm still waiting for a pakistani to play Superman but they're not that open-minded...are they?

Jessica Alba is delicious but I would never want to see her playing Elektra unless there was a nude scene in the film.

I really can't think of anyone other than Jennifer Garner right now. She's gorgeous, a very good actress, has natural ass kicking abilities and is young enough to keep making sequels.

Hurm... maybe someone more Greek looking. Then again Garner could pass for Greek. People kept saying that she's too white. I'm Greek and I'm whiter than her! Still there's a certain sterotypical Greek look, especially the more tan look of the islands where I think she was supposed to be from.

Heh. I was seeing an Italian girl who I thought was better looking than Garner and had those gorgeous Mediteranian features. Unfortunatley, it didn't last long enough to see the film with her and I never metnioned the thought to her.

As much as i liked her in that white top, i have to say Elektra could have been casted better. While Alba is athletic and hot, she's not quite perfect either. Surprising enough, i think that with the right make up and artificial aging Mila Kunis (Jackie,That 70's Show) could better fit the look. Athleticism is iffy tho.

All the artificial aging in the world can't hide how petite she is. I do like her though. Has she been in any movies because I think she would make a nice WonderGirl.

Ahh, Elektra by Jen Garner was okay. She should have dyed her hair black as someone suggested and maybe had a slight accent, but then that might come off as kind of unnatural. I have yet to see Alias, but I hear Jen Garner plays people from all over the place so maybe she could have pulled it off. Also, I thought it too bad that they didn't put in Stick and her early training. She came off as just being vengeful because of her father rather than being full of pain and anger which kind of works better. Daredevil being the guy who kind of calms her down would have worked just fine. Longer film next and maybe they can cover it in the spinoff flick.

Well, as I've said before on this topic, we can do this from now until doomsday, but I think that in the long run, it really dosen't matter: Jennifer Garner was fine. She's just about the most beautiful woman in the WORLD right now, so trying to make her look more Greek or ethnic, I don't think would really have helped, anyway. I think NOT giving her a Greek accent helped, really. Because they portrayed her as a Greek-American, anyway, so it really wouldn't have mattered. You know who would've been an interesting choice, though, since we ARE playing the "what if" route here? How about that Italian actress who's playing opposite Bruce Willis right now in "Tears of the Sun"? What's her name again, I THINK it's Monica Belluci, am I right about that? I think someone on these board's even mentioned her awhile back, even before "Tears" came out. Please......SHARE!

Yes, BigKid, she was mentioned on these boards quite a while back as a candidate for Wonder Woman, because of her Greek heritage.

I'm looking forward to seeing her in something so I can make a judgment call about her suitability for WW...

Hello, Ms. Wonderful!
So good to see you giving me a shout out! Yes, I don't know if I'm going to be seeing "Tear's of the Sun", but I do know that I really did like her "look" for the role that went to Jennifer Garner..... but I think that she would have been fine had they gone that route. As for her being WONDERWOMAN...... hmmm, interesting. I'd have to see her act, first, though, just like you said. I can't remember if I've ever even SEEN her in anything.

Well I liked Jennifer Garner, but she wasn't perfect, and her hair should've been black. Her father in the film also seemed more Jewish than Greek.

But Jessica Alba - yuck, no way! She's like a snarling schoolgirl with an attitude.

But if you want an alternative option for Elektra, who is truly Greek and would look the part, then how about Daniela Amavia, who plays in Children of Dune? Check out below:

Hey Welshy!
I just checked out the site.... I think for her look and all, yeah, she'd be a pretty right on choice for the role.... but, considering that I've NEVER seen her in ANYTHING, including this mini-series (Children of Dune), I'd have to ask..... do you think that she could handle the physical needs of the role, which is something that Jennifer Garner is just REALLY very good at? I thought that the moment that they hired her on to play Electra, it was because of that, plus, she's in a hotly rated t.v. series, PLUS, she's a pretty damn good actress. How do you think this lady would have stacked up? SHARE!

Absolutely no idea. It was just an alternative suggestion in accordance with the title of this thread. But in the DCG she'd do fine.

Another suggestion who I have actually seen is Carole Bouquet, another Greek actress, from For Your Eyes Only. In terms of her look she'd be pretty close, and her character in that film was similar to Elektra. But I can't really say about her physical abilities, as she was in a rather inactive era of Bond when the stuntman was even standing in for Roger Moore when he was walking.

But that film was sometime ago, Welshcat, how old do you figure Carol Bouquet is now?
And could she even stand the rigours of such a demanding role??

Sorry. I just knew I should've put in a qualifying statement that this was someone who could have played Elektra just like those 1960s suggestions for the Fantastic Four. I thought someone would probably say she's too old, but then I forgot to amend it.

I ought to start up a thread in the general section on classic actors/actresses for Comic book roles from ANY time period.

When first I learned of the film's imminent casting decisions, I had thought of that woman who was the main vampire's daughter in BLADE II(TM), but based it upon her work as CLEOPATRA in the 2-part miniseries on tele'.

MS. GARNER'S physical acting, though, is quite superb, & would have been made better still if she had been dressed in the manner that MR. FRANK MILLER had intended for ELEKTRA(TM).

Well, I don't know if she would be a great choice, but Gina Philips (Jeepers Creepers) does have a roundish face like Greg Horn keeps drawing Elektra on his covers. And she does look a bit foreign too. But she is only 5'3".

WELSHCAT,

I have not yet seen that film, but I see your point.

My 2nd choice would be MS. GINA GERSHON.

I heard that Penelope Cruz was the 1st choice to play Elektra, and I thought that was an ok choice. She has a Mediteranian beauty abiut her, but I think she is too small physically. I thought Jennifer Garner played Elektra perfectly and I couldn't think of anyone else who could have done better.

Well, now that I've seen a picture here of her by Local Hero ... http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=13077&f_ssn=

... and if she could act, then I would say Yamila Diaz. I don't think I've ever seen anyone else who almost looks like a living embodiment of the Greg Horn version of Elektra.

Man, Garner wasn't bad, but I just know there was someone who could have at least looked the part better. As said before, even Garner could ahve been styled and made to look more like the character. It was a horrible portrayl of Elektra.

As I said before, Garner could pass for Greek, but didn't quite fit Elektra's looks. Then again the same thing seems to be happening to Sue Storm with Jessica Alba. I would ahve liked a Greek or Itallian actress to tkae the part.

I gotta admit to be totally biased though. I msyelf am Greek. Though I am rather paler than even Garner. Plus before the film came out I had just broken up with a gorgeous Mediteranian girl who Elektra reminded me of in more ways than just that.

I can live with Garner in the role though, but she doesn't seem quintisential in it.

I was reading the Marvel Knights Black Widow trade paperback, and it struck me that Jennifer Garner would've been far better playing Natalya Alianovna Romanova than Elektra Natchios. She bears more of a resemblance, and her Alias background would've provided plenty of experience for the role of a spy. After all, Sydney Bristow is meant to be half Russian, isn't she? Black Widow could easily have been introduced in a second DD movie as the love interest (DD features in the BW trade paperback) leaving Elektra to be played by someone else in the first movie.

8) Depending on the age of the characters of they did the Elektra and Daredevil films, I would switch Matt Damon for the role of Matt Murdock since he's much better actor than Ben Affleck. Or Michael Vartan (yeah Alias and Jennifer Garner blah blah). I'll even put Johnny Depp in the role since the guy can play just about anything. I say anyone can fill these shoes as long as it's not Ben Affleck again. As for Elektra, my money is on Liv Tyler or even Keira Knightley. Hell put in Rachel Weiss or even Rebecca Romain (can't spell her name). Give an atheletic actress some dark hair and sais and a Greek accent and boom you got Elektra. Jennifer Garner didn't do it for me.

I recall one early choice before Garner was Angie Harmon.
I also recall liking Rhona Mitra a lot for the part.

Michael Vartan will get more work when Alias wraps. He'll be a bigger star than he is now. Mark my words.
