View Full Version : so........................
i guess this place should go in the trash can. we all know this was a once in a lifetime movie and it sucked. no sequel will be made. only a electra spinoff.
bye dd we'll remember u........i think?
This is being kept around just for the Elektra movie and the possibility of another DD sequel.

They did get a lot right with the film. It was just one bad director that boils down to all the wrong choices that were made.
Batman got another chance after Schumacher, maybe one day....
Besides....Elektra looks like it could be good.

Mind you the director also wrote it. I think this was too much to handle, even if he was supposedly a fan. Even fans may not know what really makes and especially how to capture that in a film.

I have to say that on paper...it should have worked. The script wasnt bad and they were very faithful indeed to the origin.
I even think that the director did his best..it just wasnt good enough.
I reckon that this is a franchise that one director/fanboy could get right....Kevin Smith.
The film iteself wasnt cut together with the right sense of direction, at points it wasnt clear where it was going and some things were criminally wasted by the end product (Foggy, his secretary, MCD).
It coulda been a lot worse...but shoulda been a lot better. It would work as a tv series in the 'shield' or 'CSI' kind of way.

Actually, Fox views the movie as a box office success, Marvel wants to do another one and they still love Mark Steven Johnson. The Director's Cut DVD comes out in a month or so.
So...whose to say there'll never be a DD2?
Nowhere to go but UP on this one.

I don't think many studios are going to be handing big budget projects over to Smith anytime soon. The last I read he was scurrying back to his low budget roots to lick his wounds after his failed big budget attempt. For a director who supposedly cares nothing for mainstream success, Jersey Girl was almost shocking in its own little generic way. Besides, I know some people think he's a great writer but he's got virtually no visual sense at all so I don't see how he could be any better for the franchise than Johnson was.
I seem to be in a minority but I find Daredevil gets better upon repeat viewings. Johnson clearly loves the character and it comes through scene after scene. He's not the most experienced director around and that more than anything was what hindered the film. And although I find Ben Affleck insufferable in most things, he was less annoying here than in any other film I've seen him in. At least he didn't smirk his way through it. Also, this was the last movie he did that could reasonably be called a hit. And although Jennifer Garner didn't really bring much mystery to her role, considering this was the genesis of the character she did a good job in portraying how and why Elektra would turn to the dark side, if indeed she does in the new film.
With some additional experience under his belt and Matt Damon or Ed Norton in the lead role, DD2 could be a very interesting movie indeed.

It is a shame about that. I havent seen jersey girl yet, didnt get round to it, but i do own the entire jersey chronicles.
Smith can tell a good story and write great dialodue. He also manages to get great performances out of his actors (which is saying a lot when you look at them).
I think he was quite burned, his retraction from the green hornet film shows it, i do however think he is a director who has pigeonholed himself into making films about people who sit and say cool things to each other.
His work on Daredevil and Green Arrow shows hes capable of a lot more.
I think Matt has a great franchise in Bourne, Norton would be good. Ive always liked the idea of guy pearce.

Well, I deleted the post. It seemed it tried to get you to download an exe file as soon as you went to the link and that's bad so I wanted to delete it ASAP. It was also clearly posted by a bot.
