I was always split on this film. On watching and rewatching i have worked out that i love it...and hate it.

I like the casting of Michael Clarke Duncan, but hate that they didnt actually give him a role.

I like the costumes, but could have seen them more.

I think the romance worked, but DAMN that logfire!!!

I even think the casting was good, I didnt hate Affleck (a factor that occurs whenever he shares a set with Kevin Smith), Farrell was good and Garner was so much better than i thought she'd be...roll on Elektra!

Most of all i liked the touches-i felt sorry for Matt-his chamber, his scars, his tooth, his cuts andd bruises - scars of a real vigilante. But the whole plot didnt ignite me.

Where could they go and who could they get to move it along. Daredevil is too strong a character for there to be only one attempt.

Personally, a darker approach with stronger actors, not stars, would work for me.

Guy Pearce in a David Fincher approach could work for me. Which storyline to do though?

I'm sure by now we've all read that, due to the box office poison that Affleck has become, he's not going to be the Man without Fear. Which makes me feel like, "WHEW"! Maybe NOW they can cast the guy who I felt all along should be Matt Murdock/Daredevil to begin with.....Viggo Mortenson. Although, some feel that he might be a tad too much older at this point. But I say, what the hell? He certainly couldn't do any worse than Affleck. He'd bring much more gravitas to the role, anyway. I wouldn't mind Guy Pierce in the role, either, but I have a feeling that guy would pass on the role if it was offered to him.

Ben Affleck could still play Daredevil in a DD tv series, if one is ever made. That wouldn't be unlikely at all, as Affleck is probably heading in the direction of ending up as a tv actor very shortly, and might welcome any work he can get. Maybe Rex Smith could play his father? http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/biggrin.gif

This is exactly what's going to happen. In a few years we're going to be treated to CSI: Berkeley starring Affleck and Jennifer Garner. Curiosity value alone is going to make this a top ten show. Once the ratings are in and he knows he's secure, Ben will be free to prance, preen, sneer, and smirk into the camera to his heart's content. Can't wait. http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/rolleyes.gif

Back on topic, I saw a movie called P.S. over the weekend and it struck me that Topher Grace would make a good Matt Murdock. His association with That 70s Show will probably keep him from film actor legitimacy for awhile, but he's a better actor than his resume would suggest. He's already 26 so when DD2 really gets going, he should be about the right age.

Well, I don't know about Jennifer Garner - she seems to be growing in box office popularity, which is quite the opposite to Affleck, so she might just succeed on the big screen. But if Kevin Costner doesn't find Affleck a turkey project soon (like Waterworld or The Postman), he will definitely will end up on tv.

Then we'll see him every week, which is probably worse.

I have a DD sequel fan script written. I wrote fan scripts for 2 and 3. I even wrote a prequel graphic novel that shows the beginning of Daredevil. In this story he hunts down The Fixer (that is Fallon) and his gang (one of them in the movie was played by Kane Hodder who played Jason Voorhees in some of the Friday The 13th films). I'd pick The Rock for Daredevil in the sequel. If there was The Owl I would pick Michael Rooker (Cliffhanger, The Replacement Killers, The 6th Day, The Bone Collector) for The Owl. I would pick Selma Blair (Hellboy, Legally Blonde) as Black Widow. Sean William Scott (The Rundown, Bulletproof Monk) as Turk. Adewale (TV's Oz, The Mummy Returns) as Grotto. For a Mr. Fear Rutger Hauer (Buffy The Vampire Slayer movie, Blade Runner, Blind Fury, Batman Begins). For Typhoid Mary Shannon Elizabeth (American Pie films, Scary Movie). Turk was Peurto Rican in the Trial of The Incredible Hulk. In the comics Turk is black. I would pick Denis Leary for Nuke. I am not sure who should play Henrich Royce or Purple Man.

If they don't bring Viggo in, then certainly I would be able to deal with Guy Peirce as The Man Without Fear. In the other thread in the general discussion area (Movies we'd like to see made, but couldn't be done well, or something to that effect), I think it was djac who made the suggestion that Peirce would be the choice, and for him, the director would be........

i think making a sequel to the huge peice of crap Daredevil movie would be a horrible idea. they need to start over. i read somewhere that a low budget production of Daredevil is being filmed that completely starts over. all the comicbook movies are so f-ed up. come on screenplay writers and directors......before you write it, try and pick up the comic your basing of off and TRY TRY TRY to be accurate. Alan Cummings as Nightcrawler?? Michael Clark Duncan as Kingpin?? oh oh and to top it all, new Fantastic Four movie comming out. Jessica Alba as the Invisible Woman!? whatever hapened to 1992 Captain America....i cant think of a more accurate comic book adaptation to film.....
