So, it looks like it's official : Dracula will indeed be the main villian of the final BLADE movie. Seems the vampires will dig up the Count from his resting place in Northern Iraq (?), according to the script review over at SuperHero Hype.
2 Questions : When is BLADE III supposed to be released in theaters ... Fall 2004 or maybe Spring 2005?
And more pertinently, who should play Dracula in BLADE III?

Oh man oh man oh man oh man oh man oh man...
This is simply AMAZING news! I hope it's true and not just some cruel tease. As for casting, I thought Gary Oldman was just perfect in Bram Stoker's Dracula. He had it all, the romanticism, the tragic element, the suave, debonair side, the vicious, cruel, evil streak. He is a tough act to follow but for some reason I keep seeing Viggo Mortensen in the role. Dracula really needs to be portrayed by a European actor, in my opinion, and I could see this casting working.
This just made my day!

What about Drake and King? I heard rumors of their inclusion, but did they make it in?

I think having Dracula in the movie almost guarantees that Drake and King will be in it.

Alright, I'll ask : Who are Drake and King and what is their relationship to Blade in the comics?
As for Dracula, you're gonna need an actor who can hold his own in the martials arts area as well ... I think the script for BLADE III calls for the mother-of-all-fights between the Count and Blade.

Frank Drake and Hannibal King were characters from the Tomb of Dracula. The book that Blade was originally introduced.
Later on Blade, Drake, and King teamed up and formed a private investigation organization called The Nightstalkers.
Drake is a desendent of Dracula's, and King is a detective who was turned into a vampire.

I am ADAMANTLY againts Dracula using any kind of martial arts. He might weild a sword European style, but I say that he should fight using his massive strength and powers. No flowery battles for the Count.

I agree. Seeing Drac turn into a martial artist would be too strange for words. I don't think 19th century Transylvanians were that versed in this form of combat, anyway. More traditional means of fighting best suit the character. Besides, part of the fun will be in watching Dracula cope with Blade's more modern style of fighting and vice versa.

Dracula should fight the way Vampire Hunter D did in that anime OVA. Lots of special effects and powers that Blade's skills are simply useless against.
