View Full Version : Hellboy, ummmm stuff.
ok so some stuff I noticed.
one, the character in the trailer. some kid to come into the BPRD. My guess is he is going to be somewhat of a narrorater for the flick, a sort of quide for us the viewer. someone normal who is almost as confused by the new and frightning world as we are.
HB's horns are at many points differnt lengths, hence at some poit we get to see some full demon sproutage.
ok so this post dosnt have a whole lot of points to it. but someone has to keep this forum alive dammit!

Doesn't Hellboy look sort of "orangeish" in the photos they've been releasing?
could be bad photos, ive seen some where he's a deep crimson and other where, well not so much. Im betting he will look just fine in the context of deltoro's lighting.

Lighting and printing are tricky things. I'm sure Del Toro obsessiveness on this film has the right color of red for the big guy.
Anyway, if i may shift the focus of this "Hellboy, ummmm stuff" thread to Hellboy stuff. And by stuff i mean moichendizing! (Where, as yogurt says, the real money from the movie is made.)
Now you too can bring aobut Rangnarok with your very own life size right hand of doom: here (http://www.sideshowtoy.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?category=hellboy_props&item=8910)
And bust a cap in evil's ass with Hellboy's gun: here (http://www.sideshowtoy.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?category=hellboy_props&item=8911)
Now these are expensive at $200 and $250 each, bt they are quality replicas. I wish we'd see some cheaper toys of this stuff. (Tho I doubt parents groups want kids playing with guns from a movie called Hellboy.) Man, a Hulk-hands-like right hand of Doom would rule.
Actaully, one of my roomates makes costumes and props sometimes. He is also a Hellboy fans and has thought about making the hand. Just a matter of designing it and finding time and materials (and money). Then agian he's already got a wishlist list of things to make and would ahv to go back to his home state to make it.
Plus there are action figures. Don't ahve a link rihgt now, but i found a nubmer of them at www.figures.com (http://www.figures.com) under the 2004 NY toy Fair and Mezco toys.
Also I saw some nice BPRD logo backpacks and bags.
So.. this year we'll have tons of Hellboy stuff to buy.

Well, i got the Abe and Hellboy (with corpse and tench) figures today. Damn fine. Nicely detailed and jointed. Abe almost feels nice and slimy.
My roomate found my figures and started playing with them. He made Hellboy dance a waltz with the corpse. Made Abe dance ala Michael Jackson, cuase he's sliuppery and got no nose like MJ. Also he liked Hellboy's trench and said Gambit would be jealous.

And for once i think i shall pick up FHM for something other than the hot girl on the cover:

From the new previews this film looks like it could be the most visually impressive C2F I've ever seen. Everything looks great. If Del Toro manages to convey a decent story then I may have to bump somebody off my top 3 best C2F's of all time list.

Hells yeah! Though there are some minor changes (which the creator of the character helped with mind you), this is looking to be an amazingly faithful adaptation AND an amazing movie.
Also, I got the Kronen figure and discovered something.. he;s got a removable mask. what lies beneath.. i leave for you to discover.

The trailer that's been playing on Show Case looks incredible. I agree that visually this movie looks like it's going to blow most other C2Fs out of the water. Set design, makeup, CGI, it all looks fantastic! Of course, coming from del Torro I wouldn't expect anything less.

--I think it's odd that in this interview... http://www.comics2film.com/FanFrame.php?f_id=6223
they never once mention the fact that while Jones is the man in the costume, David Hyde Pierce provides the voice.

--I didn't even see David Hyde Pierce in the end credits. I may have missed it, but i was watching for it and didn't see anything.

Yeah, I missed it too, but I did turn away when the full cast list was up. He wasn't in teh main big red font cast list.
And for some reason, I thought the credits were great. Really fitting for a horror movie. Dunno why I wanna say that. I liked the font or somehting.
And speaking of fishy things, I recently got a fish. I of course ahd to name him Abe. Kinda looks like him too. Got the very ncie Abe figure next ot the tank.
bah.. think I need a nap before I review.. but feel free to test out the two review threads (spoiler and non) yourselves.

as a side note.. the trialers and stupid ads before Hellboy were simply the worst I have seen. Most of them were dumb dumb dumb as hell comedies. Anchorman and even Soul Plane looked kinda decent if still totally goofball. 13 Going on 30, despite Jenifer Garner, looked like a sappy remake of big injected with way too much 80s nostalgia. They totally did not belong with Hellboy. Where are all my horror and action trailers, dammit?
Though certainly the worst one by far was the Wayan's White Chicks. It was the worse piece of crap I've ever seen on the big screen. Hell the sappy and librally bigoted fight hate PSA and the dumbass singing Coke ad were less stupid than this shit. I had bad feeling the Wayans might cross dress, but I didn't think they could be that stupid. I was wrong. This was stupid beyind what I thought stupid could be.

Hmm... this seems to be turning into a No Topic thread. I think I've ontributed to taht was well.
So, I could restate that this the Helboy mehendising.. or make it a No Topic thread where people tlak what ever Hellboy relaed stuff they want...
So.. let's go make this the Hellboy No Topic.
Anyway, so Hellboy is #1 this weekend. Huzzah! I wasn't going to have panakes for lunch... but upon hearing this news, I'll ahve to have a few.
Actually, Satuday when i took like 10 friends to see it, we atually went out to IHOP afterwards. Though this was a spearatly planned thing, it worked out well.
And I must point out that for the first time ever I have seen a movie three times in thearters and three days in a row to boot. And gosh damn I wanna see it again!
