Coming soon to CBS, a new sticom spinning off from Hellboy. Raymond get a new nighbor and everyone loves him too.
Anyway, I just figured everyone's favorite fish man might deserve his own thread. SO here's teh place to talk about Abe in the movie comics and what ever.
Plus, a little news, David Hyde Peirce is defiantely doing the voice over for Abe. Not sure how I feel aobut this, but we shall see.

I like David Hyde Pierce a whole bunch but after seeing his voice work in A Bug's Life and is character on Frasier, I'm a little worried that they're going to make Abe into his brilliantine stick insect whiny comic relief buddy. I think he's got the right voice for it but it remains to be seen if GDT is going to rein him in and make him more understated. If he can do that, then it work very well indeed, I think.

Don't forget his voice work in Osmosis Jones.

Oh yeah that's right. He was great in Osmosis Jones. But still a little sillier than I picture Abe. I'm looking forward to it. I have all the faith in the world in GDT.
GDT Knows what he's doing. funny thing is when i read diolouge from Abe, I always use David Hyde Pierces voice.

Swiming through past threads I found this one and decided to take it to the surface.
Anyway, so now that we've seen the film, what did everyone think of our favorite fishman?
I thought he was excellent. Yeah, they gave him that whole empath power. Yet I belive they did that so they wouldn't need another character. Wasn't Kate, the blonde with shorter hair, an empath or somehting in the original book? My only other little quibble was the whole rebreather thing he had to wear, but at the same time it looked kinda cool.
Plus Pierce did a wonderful job with teh voice and Jones did a fantastic job acting in the suit. The underwater scenes were wonderful.
And as a side note, before the film friends had picked up a fish for me as a gift. It was one of those pretty fighting fish. I named him Abe. While the fish are kinda bishonen pretty boys, I don't think there was any better name for him. So he's a bit of a Bowie or Gackt glam rock Abe.. meh. Ha. He does have a very similar color sceme and face. I put my Abe figure next to the tank. Thankfully the fish food I feed does't smell quite as bad as rotten eggs.
