I would suggest

Penguin Classic Crime, Edited by Julian Symons.

It is one of the few things I have read along the lines of mystery. And my first encounter with G.K. Chesterton. I have heard so much about the guy, but after reading his work here, I am committed to find more. Can anyone suggest something of his that might be one I should check out next?
