Kite and Perfect Blue

Has anyone seen these films? I don't know who they're by, or any of that other stuff fangirls are supposed to know, but I LOVED both of them.

I haven't seen much Anime, but I do know what I like in films and both of these had that magic in SPADES.

Kite (Life) is about a cute school girl (or maybe she's in college, I couldn't figure that part out), who is an assassin by night, targeting pedophiles. It's got great animation, but it's kinda bloody in parts. I suspect I watched the watered-down version, though.

Perfect Blue is just... twisted. You _have_ to watch it. It's about a pop singer who makes a career switch into acting, and her life just gets chaotic. Literally. After a while you start wondering if you've gone mad.

danke.. well I haven't seen either, but I've been meaning to. My roomates have both. Although I did see that No Doubt 'ex-girlfriend' video. Which reminds me that I need to contact mine.. and I just had a weird dream about doing so.. but first I must get to class.. anyway, soon I hope to watch both.

Millenium Actress is a new movie out now in a few thearters in the US. It's a similar story as Perfect Blue and also by the same director I think.

KITE..... KITE..... KITE.... hehehehe...... That was a messed up short anime movie that had a great story. I had bought the VHS and it was rated 16+. Then I saw that there was a Director's Cut that was rated 18+. let me just say "hehehe......that was some messed up extras." Lets hope that doesn't become a live action movie. Heads will roll, and people are gonna go to jail! "hehehe..."

Perfect Blue is on my to watch list though.

If you liked Kite then you might like Mezzo Forte. It was created and directed by Yasuomi Umetsu, the same guy who created Kite. Where Kite was more serious in nature Mezzo is more of a dark comedy. And the explicit version of Mezzo Forte makes most porn look tame. I don't know if this director is a perverted genius or if these scenes are added by the studio just to make more money by selling uncut versions. In Kite, some of the explicit sex fit into the story but in Mezzo Forte it really seemed like the story was done so that those sex scenes could be specifically added in for a "director's cut".

I think its kind of a shame because Yasuomi Umetsu will never get the acclaim he should get if he keeps making anime this way.

i hear there's a mezzo Forte TV show coming out next year. i'm sure it's toned down for Tv, but I think it's from teh same people.

That would be interesting. There seemed to be a lot of back story that was hinted at but was never told in Mezzo Forte. And the ending left an opening for a sequel so I could see a series as a possibility.
