Is there any reason the emblem is slightly asymmetric? Is this the way it is in the comics?
I keep thinking that they messed up or that I'm missing a hidden meaning.

I guess its supposed to add to the realism of the character, since he doesn't make t-shirts for a living the skull wouldn't look like it was done by a pro. I like the idea because that's something that bugged me about Spider-Man's costume in the movie. How did a high school kid in Queen's design and make a $50,000 form fitting costume? But anyway, even though I like the idea of the skull not being perfect it still looks like a pro messed it up on purpose. Doesn't look like an amateur's mistake at all to me.

I like the way the movie handled this. We saw the crappy looking costume that he made to start his career. Then time passes and he has a better costume. We are left to assume what we want.
Maybe there were a dozen or so attempts in between before he got one to turn out that good.
I like to think that he approched a designer (wearing his original costume to maintain his secret ID) and worked out a deal. Maybe he's still paying it off. Maybe he got the costume for free by agreeing to wear it at a fashion show like "I Love Lucy." Who knows?

ED,
I think that the film skull logo resembles the endoskeletal remains of a Grey alien from THE X-FILES(TM) or DARK SKIES(TM). I would rather that he spraypainted or handpainted it on, as in THE PUNISHER(TM): YEAR 1.
Nothing about it commands my attention in the way that various others do & have done, not least of which is the excellent version designed by MR. STEVE DILLON!
MESSRS. FRANK MILLER & MIKE ZECK have also done admirable work on that design, but I like that fact that MR. STEVE DILLON'S design covers the entire chest like a shield.

I like it too. It seemed a little strange the first time I saw it, but I've grown to really love it, even more-so than the current comic design.
As a side note, SERIOUSLY, what is up with the way you're writing, Malcolm?! Every single post is like that!!
