why is this set in tampa again i know new york is out but i thought the other place frank would love would be l.a. california it has gangs drugs everything under the sun frank would blend in so well any thoughts?

I am only speculating, of course, but my thought is that it is primarily a budgetary concern, since NYC is a costly place in which to shoot, even moreso given the wave of recent terrorism.

Secondly, I would think that the bay area being an intake port for illicit narcotics & heavy D.E.A./F.B.I. activity might be a factor.

And, quite possibly, as I've said before myself, I think that maybe the filmmaker's are trying to put their OWN stamp on this project, trying to make it something unique in their own mind's. The fact that they brought in Travolta to play a completely new character that the writer's made up FOR this film, gives a little bit more credence to this. Listen, I know a lot of people hate the new choice of venue, but what a lot of people also aren't aware of, is that Tampa is not what you would call an "Angel's Haven", they've been having a LOT of trouble lately with gang banger's and drug problems. I know a lot of people might say...... "huh"??? .......to this, but the fact is, FLA. is NOT just a haven anymore for oldtimer's who are retiring. It's got it's share of troubles, believe it.

Yes, it's not a bad idea to try a new place, especially if that place is having their own bouts with crime and problem's of that nature.
