apperently there are rumors/concept sketches that the thing will be grey instead of the tradtionall orange.
has anyone else heard this or seen these sketches?

I haven't heard this, but sounds interesting. Personally I wouldn't want the Thing to be bright orange as he is the comics. More of a rocky brown. (See my pics of the Thing in the DCG) But that's just my opinion.

Where did you hear these "rumors"?
You didn't happen to get that crazy idea from this place, did you?: http://www.ffplaza.com/database/tree.shtml
Because if so, then might I also point out that it looks like Reed, Sue and Johnny are all going to be bald http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/wink.gif

I agree. His color in the the Fantastic 4 movie was a good choice.

Well, I guess I'm a purist..... I would hope that they stick to the "orange brick" look of the comics.... I just think that that's the way Ben looked. I know that there are thing's that get turned around when a comic is adapted for the big screen at time's, but I'm just SO used to that look.... it'd be one thing if he'd have been grey at one point during the comics (which I don't believe happened at ANY time), but to just make him grey just like that... I dunno......
I want him orange too, or at least brick coloured. None of this grey colour! He's not like Mr Fixit or the early Hulk. And if bricks on a house look perfectly natural, I don't see why it shouldn't look okay for Ben. Unless there are people here who'd rather paint their house bricks grey?

Right on, WELSHY! Couldn't agree with you more! ORANGE IT SHOULD BE!

Perhaps to clear up confusion with my opinion:
I don't want the Thing grey, I just don't want him bright orange. I'd go with a rocky brown.

its not the sketches. i had heard that there are sketches for the thing floating around but i had heard that they are talking of making him grey instead of traditional orange for the film.
if it was just grey sketches i wouldnt care.

Well, the thing is (hoo boy), that Ben has always been associated with that orangey look.... I believe there are still fan's of this book who remember The Thing as being that Orangey Brick look.... it'd be like if they decided to go with another version of the Spider-Man costume of years later, as opposed to doing the original design. If they want to do Ben maybe in a sequal in which he starts to turn different shades or something like that, well, MAYBE I can try to keep an open mind, but for a first film?
I say stick with what work's best guy's, stick with what we ALL remember him as! And then, if there is success on the first go 'round, then maybe try Ben in another hue.
