And this is based on the characters created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, I think Marvel and 20th Century Fox are looking at the Fantastic Four as the next big Marvel movie that they hope will be a large success. Hopefully they want it out next year, but since the script writing on it is going slowly, I think a 2005 release is more likely.

Welcome to yesterday...

And by yesterday, I mean months ago.

At the moment, FF is scheduled for a December 17, 2004 opening.

THE FF MOVIE SHOULD BE RELEASED IN THE SUMMER. WINTER IS NOT THE RIGHT TIME FOR A MOVIE LIKE THIS TO BE RELEASED.

There seem's to be 3 different thread's now running simultaneously on the topic of The Fantastic Four..... can we try to keep this in maybe the thread called, "Fantastic Four, comedy or (something else)"...... or the other one? It's just getting a tiny bit confusing trying to keep up with the same topic all the time (not trying to be a pain in the ass here, just a friendly suggestion, is all). Don't want to rile anybody up!

The FF are taking a long time to get made, There have been about four screenwriters who have taken a shot at writing it, and none have been approved. When are they going to find someone who can do a good script?

can we have a fantastic four only forum, ala blade, supes, and xmen?i think(with all the popularity FF is getting here)that they'd have at least as much hits as blade.

Actually, Welshie asked for it weeks ago. So if he's up for it, he'll be the moderator.

I think one reason why it;s taken so long to get the Fantastic Four made is that Avi Arad has wanted a script that is based very closely on the origin story as created by Stan and Jack. None of the previous screenwriters did that with their drafts, although Michael France's draft came close...

Michael France..... isn't he the chap that was one of the guy's credited for his work on the Hulk script? If that's the guy, then he's not a bad one to have on this project; he'll at least keep close to the vest when it comes to the original storyline.

Yeah, France is one of the Hulk writers and isn't that a cool development? Can't wait to see what high end director they snag for the FF. As for Avi's desire to get a script with that is close to the original origin story, I dunno. As long as the script is good to great and the characters are there, what does it really matter? Films are a different medium and if they can be faithful to the comics, great, but if they veer off a little and make it better, then I say go for it.

Er....The FF has had a director for ages...Peyton Reed. And no, he's certainly not high-end...

Okay now.....there was a story that Marvel and 20th Century Fox are looking to film this movie on some of the same sound stages that were used for the X-Men films up in Canada, Well that's okay, but I would like them to do some on location filming in new York. That's where the FF is based in the comics anyway. I think X-Men producers Ralph Winter and Lauren Shulyer-Donner are now doing the Fantastic Four,

If they are going to do the Fantastic Four right on film, I think they will need a year and a half of pre-production work to get ready. Everything must look as realistic as possible to make it work as a film, I think the two X-Men films had about a year or so of pre-production work on it before they started filming,.

Well, from what I read (Unless I'm not reading it right), they already have a schedule release for the film, which is due out in theater's Dec. of '04. So they are probably already in pre-production....probably have been for quite some time already. Unless that date is really a "TENTATIVE" release date, I'm not sure.

JohnJones
07-04-2003, 11:34 AM
Perhaps. I think it's more of a tentative release date at this point because they don't have a script yet, and until they do have one, talk of release dates are always tentative.

Who said they don't have a script? How could you know that?

Because abount three weeks ago, they had brought aboard a new writer named Mark Frost to write a new script, I doubt he is finished yet. It's in the Comics2film up-coming projects list on this web-site...

One really hopes that this is another Marvel Film project they do right....

I think with Mark Frost on board, what you will probably wind up getting is someone who is going to throw in some odd ball moment's and such. The reason I feel this, is because of his "Twin Peaks" writing fame...... you don't get any weirder than THAT show. But, like I've said before, maybe that was more of David Lynch's influence. I think they will probably wind up doing a fine job on this, remember: Avi Arad has a LOT of input into what makes these character's tick, and he's been on board for all of the C2F's (well, most of them, anyway), that have been Marvel characters. I don't think he was one of the producer's on board for BLADE, but he's been intricately involved with most of the Marvel adaptations to film.

I wonder speaking of production design, if they will make Reed's lab look as advanced as it is in the comics. That will be a challenge, Remember Reed designed his lab and all the equipment and computers in it always looked more advanced then what mainstream technology was supposed to look like, so whoever becomes the production designer of this movie will have to make it look very creditable.

Well, Reed is supposed to be the outstanding scientist of his day, so I'm sure that whoever takes on the production design duties will know what the feel of the landscape will supposed to be. I always seem to remember Reed's lab alway's having this feel of the inside of a giant space station..... you know, that look of inside the spacecraft in 2001: A Space Odyssey. I'd like to see them get THAT sort of feel iin...... maybe this way they can get in that portal to The Negative Zone......that'd be really FUN! Anyone like to ....... SHARE...... their view points on this??
