I read the article that was provided to C2F about Jessica Simpson landing a role in an upcoming Marvel film, and it wasn't much of a interview, come to think of it. I know this has been spoken about in the casting section of this thread, but......COULD she be slated to be playing Sue Storm? What are your thoughts, everyone? Please.....SHARE!

I don't think having pop stars with unproven acting ability in a movie is ever a good idea. However, FF should not be a deadly serious venture anyway so this is one case where I wouldn't mind seeing a little camp.

no,no,no,no
She is too young. Maybe as a supporting cast member. I heard she could be Johnny Storm's love interest, instead. That might be a better idea. Especially if my choice plays him in the movie.

Well, this is very true, she could play a love interest to Johnny, as you also said in the other topic, brokenstatue. Norrin Radd has some good points too, but I tend to think that it would be a bad casting decision to put her in a role that I think should CLEARLY go to an actress who's either a few years older, or who is MUCH older. Jessica Simpson, I have no idea, if she can actually act in the FIRST place. But, we never know what could come about, she is riding a very HIGH wave right now, and that might be something that the studios are considering for this film. But her in this film in SOME capacity other than Sue Storm could be a help, NOT a hindrance.

Well, it looks like Jessica Simpson is playing in Mort, the Dead Teenager, whatever that is, and not Fantastic Four after all. I guess we can breathe a sigh of relief, but I have to say that after seeing a pic of her very recently, she could possibly look like a young Sue. But I'd much rather have someone like Charlize Theron.

Yes, we can all breathe a HUUUGE sigh of relief! NO Jessica Simpson playing Sue! Now, if someone could tell me just who the HELL is Mort, The Dead Teenager, I'd be thankful. They say this is a Marvel property, but I'd never heard of such a title in the Marvel Universe before.

I didn't actually notice until you just pointed it out. I was too busy looking at her face and hairstyle and comparing it to Sue.

So, you feel that she'd be a good choice to play Sue? I was looking at her pics also, and I can't say that I think there is even a resemblance.......plus, she's just a bit too young at this point to be playing the role, don't you think?

Oh, come on! They de-aged Rogue in the X-Men movies, why not do the same here? Sue's original name was Invisible Girl, after all.

Yes, but Anna Paquin is an ACTRESS.... a very good one as well..... that's not to say that I've seen Jessica Simpson in anything, but I'd lay odds that she isn't in the same category of actress as Anna is. And the thing about her being the Invisible GIRL? Let me tell you something..... way back in the sixties, before Gloria Steinem got ahold of people and pointed out the differences between GIRLS and WOMEN, people were reffering to grown woman as GIRLS... in the original comic, Sue Storm was a grown woman, but her CODE NAME was Invisible Girl. She became Invisible Woman I'm sure after the feminist movement pointed this out (somehow).
OR.... I could be totally wrong here! In any event...... she's too young. Reed Richards HAS to be closer to 40 or older, because he was that in the comics, he was a brilliant scientist with some years. Sue was as well, she wasn't 19 going with a 40 year old guy (not that I see anything wrong in that now)! ;-)

MR.HOPKINS!
Listen, NO DOUBT that she's hot, that's not in question.....I just feel that she's a little too young to be playing Sue. Frostbite claims that because they call her The Invisible GIRL, that it would make sense to cast her in the role, but the fact is, they were calling her that in the 60's, during a time when people weren't so hung up about calling grown woman GIRLS, or grown men BOYS, for that matter (just look at how George Martin, who produced The Beatles use to refer to them.....and still does.....as the BOYS). That was a nice manip job that you did on her as Sue, but it still wouldn't make sense to cast her in the role.

Look, all I'm saying is that she could be deaged like they did to Rogue in the X-movies and they can call her Invisible Girl. No need to get into this whole pre-feminism aspect of it all.

And I agree, I'm not trying to get into that either, all I'm saying is that we have to keep in mind WHEN these characters were created, and that can put into better focus as to why they called her a GIRL in the first place. If they WERE to de-age her, as you put forth, then how would the casting of Reed be affected by that? So many of us have opined that we'd like to see actors such as George Clooney, Tim Robbins, Bruce Greenwood, et al, in the role. As handsome and classy as these guy's are, all I'm saying is, is that it might be a little bit difficult to explain how Jessica Simpson could go for, let's say, Bruce Greenwood. Even Clooney, who's a really good lookin guy.
