I just read from the "fan feed" today that they are indeed going to be shooting the bulk of the film in Vancouver, B.C., and then they will head back east to shoot in a major city (possiblity of N.Y.). The reason being, they said, that it's for the films climactic battle sequence between the FF and Dr. Doom, and they needed something HUGE, like the Brooklyn Bridge as the site where they square off. Vancouver is a BEAUTIFUL city, but I was wondering if a lot of you out there had thoughts like I did about it (which are mixed): Nice locations, beautiful locales, but it's SUCH a N.Y. comic, SUCH a N.Y. feel, that I don't know if they are going to make it feel enough like N.Y. What say the rest of you? Please....... SHARE!
You know, I don't mind most of the movie being set in New York - in fact, it's a must. But the end climactic battle somewhere like Brooklyn Bridge? I don't know about that. I would've thought it would be better for the FF to actually travel to Latveria and face Doom on his own soil. They could create a magnificent version of the Latverian kingdom and Doom castle. Fighting Doom in New York itself doesn't quite seem to fit - it works for someone like Galactus or Dragon Man, but Doom? That's like having Annihilus and Blaastar come to New York from the Negative Zone. A real fish out of water situation I say for those two, and for Doom himself.

The thing is though, Welshy, Vancouver is serving as the stand in for NY, which I don't quite understand. Unless they are trying to use some areas to stand in as Upstate NY, because both Vancouver and the Upstate part of NY are very similar in beauty and forestry and hills, etc. But the city itself? I have never been to Vancouver, but I don't know if they have a city that can stand in for Manhattan. Unless they are GOING to shoot more than just the climactic battle sequence in NY, I don't know. But I rather like the idea of it being in NY, at the Brooklyn Bridge. The special f/x people would have a grand ole time with THAT when they have to be called in. I rather like the idea.
