View Full Version : Wonder Woman: Battle of Justice

I was just wondering about everyone's opinion of Redcape Cinema's short film Wonder Woman: Battle of Justice. I thought it was outstanding, and have posted a review over in the reviews section.
The producers are now running a contest in which fans can submit the script for the upcoming sequel. I for one am pretty excited about seeing the actress who plays WW, Michelle O'Neil, in a new installment. To me she seems like a worthy successor to Lynda Carter...hope it isn't sacrilege to say that!
The contest rules say the script has to be a two part episode, with part one ending in a cliff-hanger. Lots of good story possibilities there...I'd love to see Wonder Woman faced with some sort of dire situation, followed by the words "TO BE CONTINUED."

Well, since you asked:
I liked the costume, and the body that filled it. The actress has the physical presence of an Amazon but her face didn't look that much like Wonder Woman to me. She could easily be an amazon extra on Themiscyra island though. Maybe she could even be one of the amazons who competes with Diana for the the title of Wonder Woman(if that's still part of her origin now).
As far as plots go, the film was complete garbage. If a sequal is made, then I hope they do a little more research on the character beyond Linda Carter who, if my memory hasn't faded too much, never needed to use karate on a bunch of goons to get the job done. Just a reminder, Wonder Woman is nearly as strong as Superman! She'd break a regular guy's arm just by blocking his punch, so I can only imaginge the damage that she would do by using martial arts on humans. Also, Wonder Woman doesn't seem to get that much screen time in this flick. That's a big problem when you are supposedly making a "fan-film".
The direction and editing were average. I liked the bullet richochet, but everything else came off looking like a parody a MAD TV parody.

Good points, DK. My first thoughts when watching this were along the lines of "Wonder Woman is NOT a Charlie's Angel." I found the choice of villian silly and demeaning to her...a more serious, and large scale threat is needed. I also found the direction and camera work to have an undertone that well, it's hard to describe, but that cheapened WW and made her seem like a pin up fantasy.
I wasn't too impressed with the actress either, but to be fair, I am really hard to please when it comes to WW.
Overall, I'd suggest more research into source material, and I'd really really suggest putting the TV show out of the way for reference. The show was good for it's time, but was also campy, and not true to the source material, and undermined her power in just about every episode.
Use the comics for source, and show more respect for the character and her level of power.
