Being a johnny-come-lately to Hellboy, I was wondering for those of you who are long time fans, are there any story lines, characters, plot elements, etc. that you would like to see in the sequel?

Well, I was hoping for Conqueror Worm featuring the crazy character of Lobster Johnson. I thought I heard they were interested in using him in the next one. Yet recent reports (http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/newsitem.cgi?id=5371) are that it will be an all new story by Mignola and Del Toro.

Hopefully they'll have more scenes with Hellboy talking to corpses speaking in foreign languages. That was my favorite part of the movie.

Yeah, more talking corpses. I really liked how he ridiculed Hellboy.

Maybe delving into the religious artifacts more?

I would Honestly like to See an Origin od Abe Sapien in the next movie, like a little flashback scene, that would be cool.

Well, the comics themselves haven't got into Abe's orgins. There was the whole way they found him as described in the first book. Not sure if it's worth it just to make a set of that.

In the recent BPRD comic series they got a bit into his origins, but it was still confusing as hell and had nothing definately. It might have been someone else's past. Maybe his own.

Mignola: Hellboy 2 Is Mythic
- Mike Mignola, creator of the Hellboy comic franchise, told SCI FI Wire that the upcoming sequel to last year's Hellboy movie will deal with folklore and mythology, a counterbalance to the first film's focus on Nazis and monsters. "Wherein the first film was sort of the H.P. Lovecraft kind of monsters and the Nazis and the mad-scientist stuff, this one is geared much more toward the folklore element of the Hellboy [comics], with the kind of fairies and the Old-World stuff," Mignola said in an interview at Comic-Con International in San Diego.

Sweet!

That's just what I was hoping for. :D

So is there anything new going on with Hellboy 2?

I heard the director was really serious on making a sequel and I don't see any news going on...And this forum seems dead...So can someone tell me the real status of Hellboy 2? I'm really into knowing more about the character, that's because I never read one HB comic ever...

Thankfully, DelToro isn't jumping ship to Halo. Still, I'm rather against the whole idea of a Halo movie anyway. Nevermind that one of the richest companies in the world and the richest man in the world is going to make tons of money from it. Though I think the game itself is rather overrated anyway. I much prefer Half Life myself. Now there's one I'd love to see on film. Plus I think the gameplay and whole muti player is just much better.

But eh, that's me. If he does end up doing Halo, good for him. I likely will check it out then. I have enjoyed Halo 2 matches with friends and Master Chief and his spartan armor would look cool on screen.

Wait, I thought of another video game I'd rather see DelToro do. Metroid. Now there's a game with plenty of awesome alien monsters. Plus I'll take Samus over MC anyday.

Del Toro has just signed up to direct another movie as well the other day, the article didnt say whether this new project would proceed or follow HB2

You're talking Killing in Carnival Row, right? Guillermo hasn't signed for the film as yet - he's just in negotiations. He dearly wants to do HB2, but the hold-up is a problem with Revolution Studios not Guillermo. They've had a series of flops this past 2 years or so, so they're pulling in their horns and have mothballed around nine projects. Whether HB2 is one of them, I have no idea as yet, but I think if he's given the chance HB2 will be next.

'Hellboy' in U turn
- Universal Pictures will fully finance and distribute "Hellboy 2," the Guillermo del Toro-directed sequel to the 2004 Dark Horse Comic-spawned film. Studio picks up a project orphaned by Revolution Studios, which made the original and distributed through its deal at Columbia Pictures. With Revolution out of business, the sequel became available and Universal slotted it for summer 2008.

Cool beans! I was wondering when the release date would be anounced.
I just hope Universal doesn't screw things up.

2008 is looking good for C2Fs.

Thanks. Geez. You go away to a con for a weekend...

Very cool. Not long ago, at ComicCon this year, they said things were currently dead in the water. Then this development.

Well, after a long limbo period, it seems Hellboy 2 is starting to film:

Cameras Roll on 'Hellboy 2: The Golden Army'

http://www.comics2film.com/index.php?a=story&b=27398

A ton of interesting bits there. It pretty much confirms some ealier talk and adds a bit more. It seems we have the castinf for Johann, both body and voice ala Abe in the first one. Though now Doug Jones is voicing Abe as well. He'll also be acting as various characters ala Pan's Laberynth.
