That they will be doing alot from the FAtal Attractions story line for the third film. Now think about it. it would be the perfect way to spawn a Wolverine solo flick.

In my opinion we are going to see Phoenix (notice the lack of dark before her name) so we dont have to really worry about the dark phoenix saga gettin in the way. and Jean was big part of that saga too at least at the end. And that would also have the movie End with the wedding of Jean and Scott,, then for four and five you can do Inferno, or Dark Phoenix something that doesnt realyl focus on Wolverine, so it could survive with out him.

I am however confident that even when Wolverine the movie is made, that if they make an X-4 and or X-5 that Hugh would return, should the story or script require his presence.

Now for all those that dont know Fatal Attractions i think of it as the finale fight of with magneto, which would be the best way to end a trilogy. (yes you can have a trilogy, then have sequels to that trilogy, which is what i expect them to do.) so you end it on a happy note. there is closure, there are parts that will rip you to tears (and wolvie :P )

Reason not to do Phoenix for this film.... it takes away from the first two.,

First two you have mutant against an anti-hero.... then you have mutant against anti-mutant war leader. the perfect way would be to end it as you started it. the final battle with a man who took his beliefes too far.

to me it stares me straight in the face as the obvious way to go., but who knows, and who agrees, and who disagress?

Good ideas Shock, and far better than the partial script review that was posted recently on AICN. I like the idea of ending the trilogy in a way that would allow Hugh to go off and make a solo Wolvie film (which is pretty much an inevitability) while still keeping the door open for future X-Men installments.

What I like the most about your treatment is the idea of a final battle between Magneto and Charles' mutants. It makes perfect sense when you think about it and from a cinematic point of view, it would provide the closure a franchise demands. One thing I would add is a change of heart for the Brotherhood. Have Sabertooth and Mystique change sides and join the X-Men in a battle royale against Magneto. It would surely be a fair fight as Eric is one of the most omnipotent characters in the Marvel Universe. That would provide the necessary dramatics to appease the fans and the closure to satisfy the requirements of a film trilogy.

I thought perhaps the involvement of a third party, say Mr. Sinister, could have been nice.

Mr sinsiter needs to be saved for fourht and fifth... too big of a villain and not fair to only give him one movie.

As far as Mystiique and Sabretooth changing sides.... i dont think mystique is a good idea, but sabretooth maybe yeah. Specially now that Juggs is in it.

And a spoiler alert for you guys that havent read fatal attractions....

Wolverine gets his adamantium ripped off his skelaton in this story line. And he finds out that he has bone claws... its really one of the best story lines in the comic. So imagine that on film.

That lead perfectly into my suggestion for the Wolverine spinoff of the JAPAN SAGA, where he goes there to investigate the adamantium bonding process. I detailed it in the Wolverine spinoff movie forum.
