I've done a number of these in the DCG area, but I decided that in addition, I'll recap the events as I depicted them, and what I also took out for space and time, what gags I wanted to get to, etc. What gags I might get to in the future.
Some of the HTD artwork might serve as a springboard for a potential fan film.
One Night In 86 : What happened to Howard at the 1986 movie premiere of his "bio-pic" which turned out to be less than stellar. George Lucas sneaks out the back; the comics fans form a lynch mob and chase Howard. As hinted, Howard jinxes Marvel as well, starting the urban legend of the Marvel Curse.
What I didn't get to- How HTD got away, and Howard's brief tangle with an alligator in the sewers of LA.
"I thought you guys were only in the New York sewers" Howard quips.
The alligator gives chase, but crashes through a wall missing Howard by a hair.
The gator is TKO'd by the impact as a gaping hole reveals a train station. Howard, a little dusty, counts his blessings. The gator has cartoon X's in its eyes, and Howard takes that as "A good sign".
Howard then sees a stack of newspapers who has on the front page: "Escaped City Zoo Alligator terrorizes City"
Upon seeing this, Howard is overjoyed. Jumping on his 'foe', he cries "I just saved the city! With some work I could be a ...super-hero! Captian America eat your heart out!" Only- he has no witnesses, and the alligator is too heavy for him to drag back to the zoo.
He makes a collect call to Jessica Drew (orginal Spider Woman), who is out of town on business. He tries the Avengers, but they are out saving the world. She-Hulk does not think it is Howard, but a crank caller.
Howard calls animal control. But before they arrive, Howard is accosted by PETA activists, who stumble upon the wounded Gator. They think Howard is not Howard, but a mascot hired to promote that 'dumb movie'.
Howard is now chased by a PETA mob, who join forces with the comics fans mob. Soon, everyone is after Howard The Duck. Howard is soon saved -only to find out those who saved him are Animal Control, and he shares the back of the van with the caged gator, who is sedated.
Upon convincing the drivers he is Howard the Duck "The Real One", they turn him over to Beverly, who picks him up at the Animal shelter. Since there is no reward for capturing the Gator, and Howard does not get the credit, Howard marks his initials on the scales of the gator with his cigar.
He gets back to Cleveland...and a year later he meets a flamoyant millionare with leather shoes...with the letters HTD etched in them...
Resevoir Duck : Howard scrubs Marvel's back by allegedly getting all the Roger Corman FF negatives for Avi Arad who would destroy them. In return, Marvel tells him where the Howard 1986 puppet is- not at the Lucas Ranch where the South Park cartoon once suggested, but at Universal Studios in a dusty storage closet. Howard, codenamed 'Mr. Purple" (but finds that everyone still calls him Howard) teams up with "Mr. Ash" in getting the puppet.
Due to inside information from the part time actor who poses as Spider-Man for the live action stage shows, among other "unnamed"people, the duo have no trouble getting in.
Unseen: Bribery of "Mike The Security Guard"; Mr. Ash has to distract "The Kidney Lady".
When Howard and Ash find the puppet, Howard could not resist but rub it in. "Who's your mack daddy?" he says to the puppet, who mysteriously comes alive. They make it out with the puppet, and go to an undisclosed locale where they are assisted by two "co-conspirators".
Howard is left alone with the puppet, who ridicles him in the warehouse. {unseen} Howie doesn't want him talking trash, so he takes out a pocketcomb and cuts off the puppet's left feather.
{seen}
Howard then turns on the radio. Playing is a song by The Irish Rovers ("Wasn't That A Party") . Puppetduck does not think Howard will get away with it. Howard says he will, because it it fan art (he will say "fan film" in the other medium). But there is a distraction- a bunch of discarded oranges on the floor, just under an autographed Silver Surfer - Joe Santriani album cover art.
Howard gets a small clown like sledgehammer, dons a pair of goggles and intends to do a Gallager impression..
