Ok, so the new Batman Begins comes out today, and I'm wondering which kind you guys are going to get?

Widescreen

Fullscreen

Deluxe 2-disc (with free comic book!)

Neither (waiting for the Unrated Version), if it comes out

or

None, it wasn't that good anyway.

I'm getting the Deluxe 2-disc. I'm a sucker for those behind the scenes footages.

Wow all the votes are the same. I wonder how long that'll go for. I really think the deluxe 2-disc edition is the ONLY way people should spend thier money on this dvd. The other ones might not have all the special features.

Well, maybe some people don't care for spending 5 or 7 dollars for another disc full of documentaries on the Batman or his wonderful toys. But, yeah, I didn't think it would be this one-sided so far.

yeah... I bought the 2 disc. While I'm sad that it doesn't have any deleted scenes, I have to say it is a great thing indeed!

All of the documentaries and various other extras will be airing just after the movie when Batman Begins is playing on the Al Jazeera Network, so I'm just going to video tape them. "This Friday at nine, catch the world cable premiere of Batman Begins, right here on the Al Jazeera Network, followed afterwards by special behind the scenes footage you won't see anywhere else. Oh, and death to America! Stay tuned for "The Making of V For Vendetta" at twelve. And death to America!"

Wow. That was borderline ignorant. Al Jazeera is not a fundamentalist network. Yeah, it's debatalbe how sympathetic they are to some fundamentalists, but they clearly are not like that. Plus your connection of Batman Begins with either Al Jazeera or Islamit fundamentalists is totally absured or at least not relevent to this topic. So, quit trolling.

Anyway, I want to nab the two disc DVD with comic and all that jazz. I rather hope there is no later version. Just wish this DVD had commentary.

Well, I was thinking maybe Easy D should have been open minded enough to include 'Waiting until it airs on Al Jazeera' in the poll.

Really, ToM, that's not necessary. This isn't open for that kind of debate. Take it to the two other topics boards you have it on. I'm just curious about the DVD, that's all. If you don't want to get the DVD, there are two choices for it.
Also, anyone else, if ToM wants to start the arguement here, don't fall into his trap. Leave it be and on to the next message, please. Take it to the other topics, please. Honestly, he gives me headaches.

Bought the Two-Disc Deluxe Edition of BATMAN BEGINS last night. Watched it. Loved it. Can't wait to start on Disc 2 tonight. The comic book is collection of various Batman origin stories from silver age, golden age and modern age (an issue of the LONG HALLOWEEN is thrown in). You get a sense the writers definitely researched their subject when creating this movie. Oddly enough, the deluxe edition was available at my local Best Buy in Madison Heights, MI for the same price as the widescreen edition ($22.99). Pretty good deal, if you ask me.

Easy, two other topic boards I have it on? Where else are you reading me? I haven't mentioned the DVD on any other boards, or any *other* stuff. (pssst, word to the wise about Al Jazeera, they got caught with their hands in the cookie jar during the war by having several network heads on Hussein's payroll....clearly bias exists at Al Jazeera, not to start an argument, and that's my last comment regarding them, my intention was to thump Nolan's leanings).

There are two other topics regarding your views on how the film was sympathetic on terrorism (Batman Begins-A Postmortem and The Challenge).

Yeah, but those aren't other *boards*, you know?

He meant 'threads' and you know it. Again, you nitpick and miss the whole point. You got your own two threads for conpsiracy theories, go talk about them there. You were totally off topic in this thread.

got the 2-disc deluxe comic version today.

its very very good, just wish they had a commentary from Nolan & Goyer, and some deleted scenes.

and disc 1 doesn't have the Jimmy Fallon spoof from the MTV Move Awards, that must be a US-only (or Region 1) extra. our (UK, or Region 2) disc 1 only has the movie and 1 trailer.

the lenticular image is also smaller than the US one I believe, same comic though.

with plastic wrapping and stickers still on:

is the disc and cover/box art different for Region 1 and 2? any pics?

Damnit...I wish the North American release had that case. The UK poster art with Batman standing tall with the cape flapping is miles above anything that was released here.

Well, the American version has some differences. There isn't a lenticular image. It's just a plain image of Batman and a bunch of bats. Similar to the one one yours. Also, no big black border around it. And the case is the same as the image on the box. Oh, and there isn't as much crap around the image on the DVD as yours. None of the "Don't make copies of this DVD" labels. Also, I didn't get a booklet with it. I got the comic, but no booklet. I don't know if anyone else has that problem, too.

this lenticular image set is a special edition, only available from our HMV stores.

there is a similar lenticular version in the US, but the image is the full size of the cardboard box, not a small stuck-on image like my one.

here's a pic:

Finally watched Disc 2 of BATMAN BEGINS. Very, very good extras. No deleted scenes, but then again, the movie was good enough as is not to need them. The only featurette I didn't like was "Genesis of the Bat", where it started out interesting, connecting the film to it's comic book past, but then devolved into a blatant commercial for the All-Star Batman comic book. And that featured ... shudder ... Robin! Did not want to see him at all in a BATMAN BEGINS dvd. I'd prefer that Robin be retconned out of Batman continuity altogether and stick him entirely with the Titans where he and Nightwing belong. Otherwise, a fascinating movie and DVD.

I would have liked to see more behind the scenes secrets, and regarding no deleted scenes, Nolan said everything they shot was in the movie in one way or another, so there wasn't actually any (or anything worth seeing) footage they filmed but didn't use.

so i'm happy that we didn't miss anything in that sense.

and its weird seeing Batman through the amateur camera on the train, he seems so much bigger and bulkier than the other 'normal' sized people standing beside him. in the movie, you don't get the sense of his sheer size.

You know my favorite part of the 2nd DVD? It's a comic book. How cool is that?

Ok, so do you guys think Warner Bros. and DC will keep the Deluxe edition format (2 discs and a comic book) for Superman Returns, Wonder Woman, and The Flash?

Of course. But only if the film's are as good as BB. You can't expect everything to be that well made. They always get thier black holes...hmm I can't think up a better term...And maybe The Flash won't have that much special features needed for a second disc. Supes and WW are the big hitters like Batman but the Flash...I wouldn't be suprised if it was a one disc dvd.

Well, there is a deluxe edition of Constantine, with the second disc (complete with an Xbox demo for the game) and a comic book, similar to Batman Begins. And Constantine is nowhere near as popular as the Flash is.

Plus, what if, just for example (cause he's next, that's all) Superman Returns isn't as successful as Batman Begins? Do you think that film would still demand the deluxe treatment?

Hmm...Good point. I see what your saying. But I think it might be the WB way to have thier big superhero films have deluxe 2 disc boxes. It might just be a standard for them...I would hope SR will be as successful as BB too.

Hmmm, looks like WB isn't sticking the deluxe edition into just superhero films. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is also available in deluxe, too. Does anybody know if it comes with a free booklet (comic book), like with Constantine or Batman Begins?
