View Full Version : Nerdity Test!!!
Ha! I knew there was a test to test nerdness! Anyways, I will take this when I have more time (read:baby sleeping). I'm curious to know how nerdy we all are.
Take the Test (http://www.armory.com/tests/nerd500.html)!
Btw- I absolutely MUST insist that ID take this test. I can just see your eyes narrowing, nostrils flaring... I know you can't ignore my challenge. Just do it. :poke:

Sorry for being redundant. I was away for quite a while. Anyways... This is a slightly different test, though I noticed some questions are the same or similar. Here's my results for the first test. If I have time, I will also do the test you posted.
You answered "yes" to 171 of 500 questions, making you 65.8% nerd pure; that is, you are 65.8% pure in the nerd domain (you have 34.2% nerd in you).
According to the scoring guide, your nerd experience level is: Closet nerd
Your Weirdness Factor (AKA Uniqueness Factor) is 12%, based on a comparison of your test results with 52554 other submissions for this test.
Well, I took the other one, and scored a 32.34714% Geekiness. So I'm just a nerdy/or not, depending on how you look at it, no matter which test I take. Go figure.

I must wonder about the calculations, since the submissions number didn't change. However, I can't deny I am a nerd.

You know, I looked at your test, and I wonder how old it is. I looked around but couldn't find any dates on it. Some of the questions that are worded like "Owning a computer with more than a megabyte or ram", "do you have an electronic mail address" or "having a modem faster than 14.4K" sound like that's supposed to be impressive, which it might have been 15yrs ago. And consider that almost all the languages mentioned in 222-226 are basically dead.
I guess there are some sections that are timeless and yes, math geeks are eternal :)

It was kind of funny reading some of those questions. Although, my dad just got rid of his 486 2 years ago, and only because it would cost more to fix it than to get another computer. To be fair, though, he just needs it to play Warcraft. lol- My dad is a HUGE geek!

yeah that's what I was finding to be amusing. Questions that were originally written in order to show people as cutting edge now refer to them as being hopelessly behind the times. Still, some of the questions still imply nerdity. For example, people keeping old Pentiums and converting them into Unix servers for their home networks.
Still say what you will about geeks, nerds and wimps. They are running the world (http://www.cnn.com/2006/EDUCATION/04/11/educated.cities.ap/index.html).

Some questions reminded me of how geeky I really am, while others showed me that I still have a long way to go. For example, I do know "reverse polish notation", I did know 6 digits of pi and 5 digits of e and I used to be a wizard (i.e. an admin, not a wizard as in Gandalf) on a MUSH. On the other hand, I only got up to Boron in the periodic table, which is rather embarrassing, as the following three are really the simplest ones. :(

Uh, excuse me, but isn't the fact that one would even TAKE this insanely long test proof positive one is a nerd?

I'm with you Captain. That test was WAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYY to long. Plus if it was a true Nerd test they would have had more Star Trek Questions, am I not right?

I didn't think of that until AFTER I took the test, of course. God, I'm such a nerd . . .
the test proved it too.
