I just finished reading the book, and am curious to know if anyone has seen the movie yet. I'm planning to see it...the reviews I've been hearing are pretty good. Just wanted to know what others thought.

It was great, actually. Eckhart was fabulous.

Will anyone who has seen it give reasons why they did or didn't like it? Other than "such-and-such was great in it!" Something a little more concrete and meaningful, perhaps?

This movie was hilarious. I liked the MOD Squad, especially David Keochner as the firearms Lobbyist. It was really unexpected to me how funny it would be but I have never seen a movie that took cigarettes from that perspective, it was sort of refreshing. It didn't seem to me that it was either pro or anti smoking. It was more, make your own responsible adult decision. The whale eating the seal on the tv in the lobby was priceless.

Ok, I've seen this movie something that might equal five or six times. I work in a theatre that's playing it and catch snippits now and then. I've also seen the whole thing. It never gets any less funny.

Now I can understand how this movie won't be for everybody, the humour is dark. I mean, the man shills cigarettes. He has no morals, that's what makes it so great in my mind. But it's not a knee-slapper. The humour is of a mature level and is mostly in the script not the actors.

I am buying this movie on DVD when it comes out and going to see if I can get the poster to put up in my room.

Again... I love it, but if you don't have a dark dry sense of humour you won't. Go see RV instead.

Yeah David was absolutely fantastic and Sam Elliott was so into his character that I had to almost have a magnifying glass to know it was him. I was very impressed how everyone merged into their unique "creations". The dvd will remain in my collection.

The real question is, why do we need two threads for it?
