Ok, this week's film is a brilliantly directed and expertly written and acted thriller from Australia called "Wolf Creek", not to be confused with the awful Cry Wolf.
The way director Greg McLean manipulates us into thinking one thing while leading us to another was truly inspired, and the story is based actual events. I feel that this movie serves as a primer on how to properly make a thriller, and some of our so-called "great" horror directors could learn a thing or two from McLean.

Big props from me to Fun With Dick & Jane. I'm not sure why it didn't do well. It's got typical Jim Carrey antics set against the backdrop of a law-abiding (if not family-abiding) couple turned bad when Dick (Carrey) gets caught up in his company's collapse and loses almost everything. The story is a solid, wonderfully written satire aimed at the Enrons and Kenneth Lays of the world. If you've felt betrayed or that they public trust has been betrayed by the big business collapses of '01-'02, you will laugh your ass off at this movie. Oh, and wait for the end credits.
Special Thanks to: Ken Lay, Jeffrey Skilling... Arthur Andersen, Enron, WorldCom, Adelphia... you get the picture.

Thank you, but the purpose of my post was to discuss Wolf Creek, not some other film. My concept is that every Wednesday I will post the name and some comments about a film that I feel is worthy of viewing by those who might not know about the film. I welcome your posts of any movies you feel are worthy, but please do that with your own thread in order to avoid confusion with what I'm trying to do. My most humble thank you . . .

Then call the thread "Wolf Creek" or "Asonokirk's Film of the Week." As it stands, it reminds me of the "Food of the Day" and "Word of the Day" threads over in the Lounge.

Well, I could post one today. I mean it really doesn't matter. My goal with this is to turn people on to films they might never have seen or possibly heard of. Films that I think are really good and want to share with everyone. It might be a good idea for all of us to have a movie of the week thread to turn us all on to films they know about, that we may not be aware of.
