Our pal, author Adrian Gilbert, has been interviewed for this newspaper article preview to hype the upcoming movie about 2012:-
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...cle2087784.ece Personally, I predict we'll be inundated with an avalanche of books and documentaries timed to coincide with 21:12:2012! ![]() |

If nothing else, it should be a fascinating sociological experience, as various different culutre and sub-cultures deal with it in their own way. There could be mass suicides, panic, terror... things are looking interesting.
Here's an page I found some years ago filled with 2012 links, ranging from the sublime to the ridiculous: http://www.diagnosis2012.co.uk/link.htm .

In fact, I had someone contact me via a PM after reading one of my columns here, claiming that Nostradamus had predicted that a comet would hit the earth on Nov 2nd - and we're still here. I guess eventually SOMETHING will happen... but it won't tie into anything specific and there probably won't be much that we can do about it. Thanks for the links, some of them were hysterical. In the meantime, Adrian Gilbert has written us a little commentary here:- http://www.mania.com/235-degrees-201...le_112212.html I think I agree with his theory that the date is simply a time coordinate where the universal clock is re-set. It would be nice if the Human Race could experience a re-set in my lifetime... |

When and where did the old apothecary say anything about that? Anyway, Rabelais could drink him under the table any day of the week. (He sure does get around though, eh?) |

I doubt anything will happen but as Space and Stella says above, it should be an interesting social experiment across the globe leading up to the day.
And yep, there will certainly be panic and higher suicide rates. As for when humanity ends (not the world, the world will live on as it did before we arrived), I'm inclined to believe it will be something seriously random that we have little or no knowledge & control over. Some dipstick will be testing out something technology based and flip the wrong switch at the wrong time and our polar gravity will reverse. Enter the HAARP theories here. I believe when they were first testing the hydrogen bomb, they didn't fully know if the reaction would stop. That's the kind of mentality some scientists have so it wouldn't surprise me in the least if we were going about our daily lives when some untested device goes haywire and wrecks havoc on mankind as a result... OR....the asteroid/meteor theory of course. We cover only so much of the sky and we need very advance notice if we want to stop something along those lines...Advance notice which we'll probably not have. So wham, some extra terrestrial object slams into the moon or the Earth and we go out that way. And the Earth needs a few thousand years to cool down enough for life to come back in some different form. OR (last one) a massive Solar Storm hits us and takes us back to the time before electricity for a few months which have riots, devastation and mass panic resulting in half the world's population going nutty. That theory sounds interesting as well. For the 2012 deal, I caught myself laughing the other day with a question while watching a special on History. You know how many commercial retail chains advertise that no payments need to be made until the next year or the year following. I wonder how many of those chains will have that the year leading up to December 2012? ![]() |

If the world will indeed end in 2012, this script from Beyond the Fringe in the early 1960s might be helpful to prepare us all:http://www.epicure.demon.co.uk/endworld.html
