Until Marvel Studios lets me down, I'm standing behind them 100%. I love the fact they are making Thor gritty and "historic". This will bring realism to the movie, much like Iron Man's modern day look brought us. Thor isn't supposed to be all glamorous and brightly colored in my opinion... he's a god yes, but he's one who is constantly at war fighting to defend his home and battling against his brother as well. This generation, as well as those before it, will finally get to see the true origin behind the Norse god of Thunder.
Hey, we're not talking about a Greek god in a toga here. We're talking about a god who was worshiped by battle-worn Vikings who lived and breathed war. I'll say it right now, this movie is going to be a HUGE blockbuster for the Summer of 2010. I know there will be other movies that summer which will do well, but Marvel will be sure to keep us all on the edge of our seats wanting more Thor. |

I thought Brian Singer was a comic book fan... In an interview with him for the first X-men movie he spoke about how he has always loved the comic books... Maybe he was just a fan of Marvel and decided it would be funny to ruin the face of DC comics. Oh never mind...

Branagh can do it. I loved his Frankenstein. Regardless of what critics said about that film Branagh delivered the intelligent and tortured monster much in the way hes written in Shellys novel not the mindless lumbering beast we've seen in most Frankenstein films. As long as he takes that approach to Thor rather than I'm going to do my own thing Ang Lee approach we should be in good shape. I also think this film would be best served by taking place totally in Asgard. I know that wont be the case since Thor needs to be in a position to join The Avengers, but I think the film could come off very silly if not handled just right.

It should perhaps start in Asgard, but unless they show him being exiled to Earth (Midgard) as a Mortal, it won't make any sense when the Avengers comes out. The original story I read about the script, started off telling his story, including the Exile.
I know how the original Thor story went, but how did they rewrite it for the new Ultimate Universe? |
