I'm indifferent to this cast and director coming back. They royally messed up Spider-Mani 3 so when it becam clear that the cast and director migght not come back I was getting used to the idea of the franchise going in another direction. The first two Spider-Man's were great but I think we've seen enough so the "Sam Raimi" version. I'm cool with Tobey still in the lead but Spider-Man has soooo many stories that have nothing to do with Mary Jane that I dont think you have to keep including her at this point. I just have to say this I'm just really pissed they didn't have Venom introduce over 2 movies. Avi Arad was right that fans wanted to see Venom but not not a the expense of just "throwing" him in to make fans happy and this mucking up the story. Very bad decision on Marvel's part with a great villain...

Kirsten Dunst oye, damn my eyes! Isn't there another chick flick she needs to be during SM 4 & 5?

Very bad decision on their part to use Venom AT ALL. I know that younger fans, weaned on stuff by Liefeld and McFarlane, are more easily amused by this ridiculously one-note character, but the fact is that there's nowhere to go with the character.

well i think the vote is unanimous.. kirsten's got ta GO! she's out dated, acting skills are suited for artsy independent films, and dont forget she's qouted in an article that she wasnt going to do a 2nd or 3rd spidey unless there was more screen time for mary jane. now, that shes not a mainstream actress anymore she's practically begging for her role back. kirsten you do a fine job in independent films but leave mary jane in your past, its in the best interest for you, the franchise, and the fans. And, dont screw up the next villains these 2 films like you did venom, what a waste of an iconic character

BrettH:

I for one am approaching 40, so I'm not sure if you consider me a "younger fan"; but I have no problem telling you that I am a Venom fan. The bottom line is this, if Venom were such a "one-note character" he would never have gained the popularity that still holds onto today. I know that bitching about Venom is the cool thing to do now a days, but give it a rest. You really just come across sounding like an old man bitching about todays music or using school buses instead of walking a mile thru the snow with no shoes. Venom's a great character and is just as deserving of iconic status as the Green Goblin, Sandman, or Doctor Octopus.

I will however say that I wish Raimi hadn't had the charater forced on him. 3 storylines is what killed Spidey 3.

In part 4 and 5 I'm hoping to see the Lizard on a rampage, Kraven hunting him, and Spidey caught in the middle trying to stop them both. I'd also have no problem with Peter having no love interest whatsoever in these next movies.

What I don't get is how you can just completely trash a film that was not all that bad. Spider-man 3 was just over hyped and disappointed but it was still a good film. Everyone keeps talking about reboot why, do you all honestly want to see the same stories retold this quickly in this young franchise? I rather the series just move along. Man we are spoiled. Its like watching the New England Patriots fans leaving the stadium after my Miami Dolphins beat them down. They have one bad game after all these winning season and people turn there back on them just like Spidey.

What I think happen was that Spider-man 3 was really like Sam and company senior year and the reason I think this is because they probably figured that this was there last Spidey movie and they would not be able to get everyone signed because of money issues so they just wanted to have fun with it that why it had all those ridiculous scene throughout the move
