Default VH1's "Behind The Music."

It's apparently back. I saw one a month or so back about Kid Rock and thought, "hey, there's a lot of interesting stuff I didn't know about this guy and, to top it all off, he's newsworthy besides."

That's the last time we see integrity on BTM, though, as this weekend's episode features Nick Lachey.

That's right. Nick Lachey.

I'll let that sink in.

What the hell has the guy done except be in Boy Band #42, boff Jessica Simpson and be the brother of the guy who won on Dancing With The Stars (side note, how in the hell is his brother considered a star???)?

Ridiculous.

Screw you VH1!!!

His brother is a star because he was also in aforementioned boy band. I know that because they said it on DWTS. Apparently the band was a pretty huge deal. I never knew who any of them were until NL and Jess S got married, and only heard about that because her virginity was such a big issue.

I used to love watching BTM. I don't have cable anymore, though, so I won't be seeing any new ones. I especially liked the ones about the bands of the 60s and 70s.

The greatest Behind the Music ever

Boy. I'd love it if my title was changed to "They tried to kill him with a forklift."

Several years ago, I found a site that did animated parodies of BTM called "Behind The Music That Sucks." They were hilarious almost without exception and those that weren't gutbusters were at least able to make me crack a smile and give a slight snicker. Cracking a smile on my face is a pretty big challenge for most internet humor so it suffices to say I thought this stuff was pretty damn funny.

Well, after a couple years, the production company (Heavy.com) split with the site that was distributing them (UGO.com). Some time later, they disappeared never to be seen again. But now they've resurfaced as a channel of their own on Heavy. I don't see many that I remember so they've been back in production for a while but there is one on there that I do remember from back in the day: KISS. I still can't help but laugh at it even though I know every joke by heart, even after 3 or so years of not seeing it. I laughed so hard I cried the first few dozen times I saw it. In the past, they also did episodes on Fred Durst, The Dixie Chicks and Tupac and Biggie ("ask not what Tupac can do for you but what you can do for mutha****in' Tupac!"... "If royalties are in the offin', then Tupac is in the coffin!"... there are literally 2 dozen such quoteables in that one episode), not to mention Christina Aguilera, Guns N' Roses, and dozens more I can't even remember.

Check it out.
