I would qualify soldiers who do bad things that they're commanded to do as bad guys. A good guy would be a soldier who disobeys his commanders orders. Good guys do the right thing no matter what! I'm talking movies, mind you. I would probably do whatever my commanders told me to, short of rape/murder. Has anyone ever heard of those experiments where 100% of the test subjects tortured (electric-shock) people because they were told to by an authority figure? Crazy.

I've seen them do that on 20/20, with actors pretending to be shocked.

A performance like that would be shocking.

At best, he's shady and ambiguous. At worst, he's just creepy.

In no particular order...

"Funboy" from The Crow

"Darth Vader" from The Empire Strikes Back (as evil as he was in A New Hope, he was just the vilest in this one...

"Randall Flagg" in Stephen King's The Stand

That Flesh Pirate leader guy (with the crazy eyes) in Cyborg

"Agent Smith" in The Matrix Trilogy

"Roy Batty" in Blade Runner

"Darkness" in Legend

"Kurgan" in Highlander

"Captain Rhodes" in George A. Romero's Day of the Dead

"Tim Rothman" in charge of X-Men

Yeah. I think Zed was the most warped out of all of them. That scene is just rough, i still have a hard time watching it.

Thumbs up Re: Best Top 10 Villians

My fav villains list: I normally pick out baddies who I have a trace of sympathy for and are realistic- this in a way makes them whole characters and not just run-of-the-mill bad guys/killing machines.

1) Amon Goeth in Schindler's List/ Neil McCauley in Heat
2) Hyman Roth in Godfather Part II
3) Hannibal Lecter in Silence of the Lambs
4) Lady Kaede in Ran
5) Gordon Gekko in Wallstreet
6) Archibald Cunningham in Rob Roy
7) Tyler Durden in Fight Club
8) Sport in Taxi Driver
9) Noah Cross in Chinatown
10) Harry Lime in The Third Man

extra: 11) Stanley Kowalski in A Streetcar Named Desire/ Sgt. Barnes in Platoon

note: If they ever make a movie of Cormac McCarthy's novel Blood Meridian (and be faithful to it) then my all-time fav villain would be Judge Holden- he would make all the others in my list (combined) look like angels.
