Default Iranians riveted by Holocaust mini-series

I don't know about you, but I find this to be a comforting thought.

Iran Holocaust Show Sympathetic to Jews

Even if it is possibly a PR trick by the government (which it may or may not be), it proves that the people of Iran are not exactly the barbaric savages certain sectors would have us believe them to be.

The people aren't barbaric savages, but their leaders aren't the most level-headed. I mean, the French want to invade you now, Iran!

The Iranian people are quite civilized and as a whole far more pro-west than their government. They had a bout of madness in the 80s and are still paying for it however.

Funny how people pay long-term for short-term political madness. It's not unique to Iran.

It's really sad to me that many Americans think the Iranians are this monolithic race of people that have a single personality exemplified by their theocratic rulers. It's like believing that George Bush and his cohorts are indicative of America alone.

Unfortunately, both are in charge of their respective countries, and that is the identity the country projects as a result. If the people of the respective countries don't like the perception, then they need to change who's in charge of their country.

Not to mention the fact that a healthy percentage of people do agree with their leaders (both in Iran and in the US). Both countries have their fair-share of crazy fundamentalists who believe that God talks to them and tells them to hate their neighbors or risk apocolypse.

You can't judge a country by their few outspoken liberals, either. Most people are middle-of-the-road and willing to fall either way if the propaganda is convincing enough.
