I loved this show so much but after Jerry, and the original 3 cast members left, and only Remmy stayed on the show went to the shits!
What I would give for the fox people to pick up this franchise back from Sci Fi, and bring back a spin off show or a mini series that ties the saga together, and brings closure to the show.... Or maybe a few tv movies that could do that also. And heck a 6th season would also be welcomed! heh I know it probably won't ever happen but then again many said that we wouldn't ever go to the moon! |

Let me be the first to welcome you to the boards, Jackal.
Poke your head around, post wherever and whatever you like as long as it's on topic (anything goes in The Asylum that doesn't have a forum of its own... spamming is forbidden anywhere and everywhere and will net you an instant ban as well as plenty of derision from the members... I don't think you're here to do that, though). Now, on with the show!Ahhhh... yes. Sliders. Another of the great debacles in the history of Fox. Here's how Fox operates: Step 1: Pick up all the shows the Big Three turn down, including a few gems. Step 2: Cancel the gems within 3 episodes (except for 1 every 5 years) Step 3: Cancel any gem that lasts more than 3 episodes after no longer than 3 seasons. Step 4: Keep the crap on ad nauseum for 6 or 7 seasons. Letting a show like Sliders go is one of the great debacles of TV history that even makes my assessment of Fox's scheduling process look like a compliment. It's doubly bad for Sliders because it ended up on Sci-Fi. Talk about adding insult to injury! And, by Step 3, I fully expect Prison Break to end after this season but, naturally, everyone involved in the show will find out from their friend who heard it on the radio.

Sliders went in the crapper with the move to Sci-Fi, the death rattle started with the two Arturo's resulting in the "Is he or isn't he our Arturo." Then whichever one it was died at the hands of Roger Daltrey. It continued with the the loss of Wade Welles and the addition of Maggie Beckett, only to be given last rites with the addition of dumbdumb Collin Mallory. Oh yeah....and then they decide to just "lose" Collin and merge Quinn with another actor to create Mallory.......oy vey.
John Rhys Davies was the smartest one..... a dwarf never runs....but he knows when to jump ship.

Sliders jumped the shark . . .
There was an episode where they landed on a planet where biological warfare had killed all of the men. The guys were then used for stud service. Quinn was held in a forest mansion with a rich hottie who wanted to have sex with him all of the time. Why did the show jump the shark? THEY LEFT! When the deal is you can jump to a planet where Nazis are in charge or a dinosaur can eat you, pickings are slim. When you land on the Stud Service planet, you stay there! They won't kill the goose laying the golden eggs.
