Apparently the success of CR caused Sony / MGM to renegotiate. His fee for the next two has been increased enough to make him Britain's highest paid actor, in exchange for a third and fourth movie being added.
Hmmmmm, "Craig Not Bond" ? Really ?? |

For all the grief this guy was dumped with, he certainly deserves this!!!
I hope he continues to get the quality scripts he is capable of delivering. |

Goody goody! More Bond, and hopefully the salary increase means the producers are willing to keep investing in the series in all aspects of production. (Including scripts!)
I just hope the extra money and commitments don't prevent Craig from doing the two sequels to "The Golden Compass." He'll tear up the final scene that his character has, if only he gets a chance to do it.

I hope those sequels get made in the first place. The fantasy genre is up sh*t creek in movie theatres at the moment. LOTR started a mini-rush & Potter proved it should sell, but with both Stardust, and that one with the kid and the guy from Deadwood in it, bombing then The Golden Compass has to do very robustly both in theatres and on DVD for the sequels to come through.

His Dark Materials, the novel trilogy on which Golden Compass is based, has a strong following. Not really on par with Harry Potter, but still very strong. Plus the controversy stirred by removing the religious overtones contained in the book should generate a bit of mystique that will sell more tickets yet. I'll wear a gorilla suit to the office for a week if it doesn't do well.
Besides, the producers were fools if they didn't sign Craig to the three picture deal right away. They must have known they wanted to do all three films, and Craig was already delivering fine performances even if they didn't know he was going to be Bond when they signed him. I don't know which project he got first, and I'm too lazy to look. Pierce managed to put out several non-Bond projects during his tenure in the role, so I don't see why Craig can't do the same. |

Apparently, Craig has denied the rumor of his contract.
