"Samson Adams"? Sounds like someone was drinking a lot of beer while writing the script and used the name on the bottle...

That aspect didn't bother me, as I don't recall Dr. Leonard Samson.......so, all in all, the review of THIS version of the script sounds pretty close to the review that I read not too long ago when the first reviews of the script started surfacing about 3 months or so ago. I'm happy to hear that the action aspect of this film was raised up a few more notches, without skimping on the quality of actors and F/X qualities. Getting Edward Norton as Bruce Banner and William Hurt as "Thunderbolt" Ross aren't exactly chopped liver. Plus, you throw in Tim Roth as the main villain and Liv Tyler as Betty Ross (even though I LOVE Jennifer Connolly), I think this film's going to do well.

While I am a fan of Ang Lee's Hulk movie, it was not what it could have been. I didn't mind the drama aspect. In fact, I thought it was an interesting take on the character. I liked the nods to the TV series, ie changing the father's name to David Banner and Bruce's line at the end of the movie "Don't make me angry. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry." I grew up watching the TV series and the made-for-TV movies, so that was a nice touch. What DID bother me, however, were the split screen panels that were made to look like a comic book. They distracted from the film. I also did not like making David Banner into The Absorbing Man. That was a disgrace to the comic book character. And what was the point of making the Hulk 12ft tall? Come on. That's not who The Hulk is. The angrier The Hulk gets, the stronger he gets. He does not grow taller. The Hulk is only supposed to be about 7 or 8 ft tall. Now, about this new movie, I also am not crazy about the fact that they changed Dr. Leonard Samson's name to Dr. Samson Adams. The only other problem I have with this script is the Hulk origin. Betty and Bruce were part of a super soldier formula experiment? Sounds to me like they are combining The Hulk with Captain America. I hope these things will be changed by the time the actual movie comes out. This is supposedly from the "first" script. I'd love to hear what the final script is like.

And pirate boots!:bigsmile: I kid. The movie sounds really cool, for all the reasons you say above. I'm looking forward to it! |

What was wrong with Leonard Samson? It's not like it's a corny name. Samson Adams sounds cornier. It's like Grizzly Adams, just that it's green hair instead... if he even has green hair.
As to this Super Soldier experiment - I wonder if it's all a set up for a Captain America movie which will lead into an Avengers movie? Maybe it's their way of linking the franchises together and having some kind of crossover. I don't particularly like this origin for the Hulk though. BTW I wouldn't mind if they used "David Bruce Banner" as in the TV series. |
