This discussion is for comments about the news article News: Willem DaFoe green again in 'Spider-Man 4'?.

I don't see why Wilem Defoe would be needed unless they did bring Norman Osborn back to the the living. Personally I'd rather see The Lizard and Black Cat. The Goblin story had a good ending with Spidey 3.

The villains for the upcoming Spider-man 4 movie are Lizard & Carnage.
Others would be Black Cat & Stan Lee cameo.
I say they should keep the Bruce Campbell cameos & have recurring cameos of Dafoe as a different character becuz technically its a reboot.

Where have they announced Carnage as a villain? The Venom character and the subplot related to it is what made Spider-Man 3 such a terrible follow up to the first two. Why ensure that the fourth movie will be bad, too?

My wife & I analyzed this storyline.

It's perfectly set up for them to introduce the nefarious HOB-Goblin!

Green 1 and green 2 have happened. Osbourne manor sits ruined and abandoned... momentarily... hidden in its depths lie the remains of the goblins' weapons and chemical crap... along comes that sneek thief (?) intent on pilfering goods and wealth... and he stumbles upon this cache of goodies...

becomming the ever orange hobgoblin.

rhino, lizard, and black cat are fair game for bit parts.

Well it would be interesting if they did bring back Norman. But didn't he just come back as Norman for some time before he became the Goblin again? And even if they did bring him back as the Goblin please not the costume from the first movie but have him use a costume that actually looks like it belongs to a Goblin and not just a ninja on a sky stick. It would be nice to see the Lizard though and I would really like to see the Black Cat and maybe at least a breif crossover with another Marvel character, like one or all of the X-MEN or some others.

Osborne coming back would be ok... so long as they did it in a comic book way. Remember this is a comic book adaptation. Not everything must be belivable. Its the suspension of disbelief that makes comics so fun. So... Norman's return? Could be done in a couple of ways. We never saw what Harry did with the body after Spidey left. All we see next is the funeral scene and no open casket. So Harry over come with grief, calls his butler (you know that weak ass guy that thought it was a great idea to let Harry stew for a couple of years and chase spider man thinking he killed his dad). His butler having some inside info on Normans projects, calls some experts in, and they set Norman in a cryo chamber in order to clone him. Yeah I know clones bad idea, but in the comics it works, its just the thing you would see. That or the serum that he took takes a while to re-knit the damage that was done so a few years later he emerges from the chamber whole again, and looking for pay back. Or better yet, he emerges with the serum played out and no more and back to his sane self. That is until he finds out about Harry, and blames spider man, then hires a mercenary (enter Hobgoblin) or rather a whole string of mercenaries (rhino, shocker, scorpion, kraven, etc.) to hunt him down and kill him. Might be fun to make a movie without some redemption story for a change, just a good romp with a crap load of explosions, and fight scenes. I especially like the idea of a cybernetic Rhino, ala the ulitimate universe version. What ever way they decide to bring him back, just so long as he isnt in some suit chasing spider man around. Its time for that to move on to the next level. Having him be a secret mastermind seems the most logical.

Don't U just like how every body thinks I'm full of crap because I know the planned villains for Spider-man 4 are Black Cat, Carnage, & Lizard.
