I kind of feel like he's the opposite of a sellout. He wanted to make a great X-Men but couldn't do it under the time and budget constraints. Rather than just take the money and crap one out, he walked away.

I wonder if he's actually walked away or simply no longer attached per his deal expiring (ie, are they talking to him or he to them about locking down another deal or is Vaughn giving this one a pass)?

And Marvel Master 1, Robbo's not only right about the time and budget constraints, but Vaughn actually gave an interview that was posted here where he more or less "broke his silence" and let it be known that one of the driving factors that knocked him out of the X-Men box was the (I'll be kind and say lackluster) script he'd have to work with under the condition's Robbo mentioned. The fact that the powers that be wouldn't let him tinker much didnt' help either.

As much as I love X1 and 2, if Wolverine isn't Fox returning to form on this franchise, the only thing I'll be looking forward to from them are it's rights to X-Men, FF, and Daredevil/Elektra reverting back to Marvel someday. And I'm sure Thor'll land on it's feet. Marvel has to finally put it's money where it's mouth is and prove that they're not a one hit wonder with their "in house" productions.

The Wolverine movie is due out next year, but in the great scheme of things the best movies come out every other year. Yes, Transformers was an exception, but in my opinion it was a diamond in the rough of last year's junkfest. (and yeah the Silver Surfer was the only bright point in last year's FF movie.)
