Hmmmm, I hope it's a grower.
I really liked DAD and CR themes. Not sure about this yet. http://news.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/hi/mu...00/7622911.stm |

Okay, so it's only about 40 seconds of the song and I guess I'll at least adopt the pretense of waiting for the whole thing before I freak out.
Um....actually, no I won't. That clip is shit! The lyrics are God awful and the singing sounds like some bloke in a shower. Fuck sake, even some of the submissions for the Devil May Care contest on MySpace were better than this dribble. I will say, though, the instrumentation sounds all right. I so wanted to like this song, too, and I'll honestly try to give it a chance when I've heard the whole thing. My first impression, however, is obviously not positive.

Eh. I hope that's not the finished production version, it sounded vocal-heavy and kind of echo-y. I don't hate it, but I can't say as I really like it either. I'll wait to hear the finished product.

I believe, Negs, you will find that it is the final production version. I was reading somewhere, I don't remember where, that this would be the first title track in 20 years to be produced in mono. Something about the mono version capturing more of Keys' soulfoul voice or other such crap. I'll see if I can dig up the link.
EDIT: Found the link. Last paragraph is the only one that applies to the current conversation. http://www.mi6.co.uk/sections/articl...qo s&id=02006

Eh. I like the sound a little raw--it seems in keeping with the new Bond--but that's a little much for me.

That is a bit of a pisser, as Cornell's song for CR sounded better in the movie when it was "brassed up" a bit than it did on the radio or on the web before the movie was released.
Still, I will always applaud them for not going down the Bassey type route for the sake of it ! |

Yup, after repeated listens the intro and the instrumentals definitely save it.

Interesting hearing the full version. I like the instrumentals, which are definitely kind of a throwback, but the vocals are modern. I think it will be effective. I can already picture a video, with lots of action clips.

Well, my initial reaction to Die Another Day was strongly negative when I first heard it. It grew on me, but it's never grown to be one of my particular favorites. Same holds true here.
