They showed us Redemption and set up that the First Son had a druggie friend who got the goods on Voight and then got killed. First Son's storyline in Redemption ended with him knowing nothing, but maybe being lined up to get killed as a "loose end."
Now that the season has started, the writers have completely erased druggie friend and made the son be the one who got the info and was killed. WTF?! Why even bother showing us Redemption if you've got such a huge and glaring plot hole?! Seriously, all this talk of tweaking the show and making it even better and we have an Air Force One sized plot hole to deal with within the first four hours! If that's any indication of things to come, I think it'll disappear from my DVR pretty quickly. |

Hmmm.....maybe I should hold off on watching Redemption for a while or even skip it completely. Then I can remain blissfully unaware of any plot holes.

That's a pretty fucking huge plot hole, too.
Every time I see the First Gentleman looking for answers about his son's death, my inner Kathy Bates screams "HE DIDN'T GET OUT OF THE COCK-A-DOODY CAAARRRRR!!!!" |

My guess is that the First Son got killed between Redemption and Season 7. I don't think they're trying to say it was the First Son who got killed in Redemption, nor are they trying to ignore the druggie. You have to accept that things happened between then and now. Or am I missing something?

Penny,
That's what I thought initially, but what the girlfriend told the First Gentleman was the the First Son had worked at the firm and uncovered the dirt and was killed for it. If you recall, in Redemption, he had no real knowledge of the dirt that was uncovered by the druggie friend who was killed. I suppose that there could be a cheat coming up that involves some lame story about how the First Son did pursue what druggie friend was working on, but that is a cheap cop-out and can't satisfactorily explain what went down. How can Frist Dad not know that First Son's best friend died? I can think of no satisfactory way to explain this away that's not a total shitty-writing cop-out. |

Penny? Wow. That's a new one.
I see your point. Personally, I was more concerned about how they were going to bring Tony back from the dead without making him an evil twin or a zombie, and I'm satisfied with that. I have to say that your Misery reference cracked me up.

RE: "Penny," Yeah, I like to just be "out there."
There's still no real good explanation on Tony, either. Dang crappy writing! |

Well, I figure that if I accept that Jack has been dead twice, I have to accept that Tony can make it back at least once.

Yep...I can accept Tony as back. Moreso, I'm enjoying the fact that Tony's back. 24 killed off way too many good characters.
And I can somewhat see what you're talking about, Jakester. At least in regards to the son being dead now. Like Pen says, I think the Redemption storyline is still right but they're not really explaining what happened between Redemption and the new season good enough. Like in the last episode, the girlfriend should have told First Dad that the son had a friend come to him with this investment issue, and the issue wound up killing the son too. Overall, I'm enjoying the new season. It's just good to have Jack back every week. |

Listen to what ex-girlfriend tells First Gentleman. The things she said First Son did are exactly what druggie friend did and First Son only had limited knowledge of.
