Default Fringe

The pilot is floating around teh interwebz.
I'm ~30 minutes in, and I must say, that as much as I love Abrams, this is pretty darn bad.

The writing is all over the place with huge plot holes, and horrible dialogue. Did I mention the horrible dialogue?

Ouch!

Hmmm...that's too bad. I was hoping this one would be good. Hopefully they will iron out some kinks before it hits the air.

Bloody Disgusting has a review up at their site. It's blocked for me, so I can't link to it, but it's not too far out.

I really was hoping this would be a real home run for Abrams, but it's really not very good at all.

I'll stay away from spoiling it -- heck, I still have not finished watching it, mostly because I just don't care a whole lot (pretty sad, innit?) about finishing the ep, until it premieres. There's time to work out script issues are re-shoot scenes (barring a SAG strike). But wow. As it stands, it's worse than the Knight Rider backdoor pilot, by a lot.

I finally watched the pilot for Fringe (during its reairing yesterday), and I liked it. It certainly has room for improvement, but I still enjoyed the pilot quite a bit.

I DVR'ed the pilot, and I'll get around to watching it and see what's changed. I understand they cleaned a few things up and made some things make more sense.

I think one of my biggest gripes was that Noble's character was in an insane asylum, and he couldn't have visitors without a family member agreeing? Even for official federal government business? Huh? SRSLY? And then he just checked out?

There was just too much that seemed entirely too clumsy to me. But what the hell do I know? I liked Drive.

Well, Drive had Capt. Tightpants in it, so of course it was enjoyable.

The pilot was kinda, well, weird, but the production values were very very good, and I enjoyed Denethor doing the crazy bit. So I'll watch a couple more and see if they get any stupider.

Oh, and as soon as they showed the FBI dude saying "I love you" to the blonde? I said,

SPOILER
either he's going to die, or he's going to be behind the conspiracy. He actually did a little of both!

Maybe Abrams should hire me for his staff.

Oh, today I came to understand that the pilot was written in a few days to get it done before the strike. I can perhaps forgive some of the more pedestrian bits, then.

This was my most anticipated show, and I finally got the time to watch it last night. I liked most of it, but there were some awful bits of acting and/or dialogue. That one FBI agent guy was painful to watch, as was the boss.

I thought the main characters were good though. I've always liked Joshua Jackson, and he didn't disappoint.

Overall, I think the previews for the upcoming season they showed at the end looked like the show is going to get better. I liked the pilot enough to keep watching for now.

I liked Drive too!

I'm definitely tuning in tonight to see how the second episode turned out. They showed the first scene from it on Sunday after the re-airing of the pilot, and it was suitably creepy. I can't wait to see what they do with it.

I also like John Noble being "crazy". He definitely had the best line from the pilot: "Excellent! Let's make some LSD!"
