When you're out in the open, sure. But if you're caught in confined spaces with a horde of skin eaters pressing down on you, you're in trouble.

This whole discussion reminds me of the George Carlin quote Omicron is currently using for a sig, "Contrary to popular belief, a goldfish can kill a grizzly bear. But it does require a substantial amount of surprise."

And, sorry, I just don't believe that goldfish is gonna take down a grizzly bear any more than a bumbling zombie will catch someone who is RUNNING away.

So you're saying that someone coming back from the dead and chomping on other people isn't a suspension of disbelief?

Like it was just stated, speedy-go-zombies are great for open area chases, but since the living need to sleep, they'll hole up in a building. Zombies clump around buildings where the food source (ie. the living) are, and that's where you get your tension.

The speedy-go-zombies were invented for the Ritalin generation that get fidgety with things like plot and character development. Instead, what we get are live action videogames are just about as much fun as watching someone play a videogame.

To each their own.

You like videogame movies, whereas I like something a bit different and a lot less erratic, choppy, and hackneyed.

I loved the remake of DOTD and the original at least they did not show the same scenes and dailogue like the omen and some parts of superman returns.

As far as fast moving zombies vs slow ones. The slow makes you feel that humanity has a chance of surviving but the fast ones you know mankind is S.O.L. and slow moving ones are more suspenseful because when you underestimate them that's when you are screwed!
The fast ones are like "quickies" to fast and not as pleasurable.

Is ving rhames playing his brother in the movie?

Oh man, that's....ugh.....uh-oh......hang on a sec.....

Ugh....ok......no.....wait......

Blech. Ok, I feel better now. Where was I? Oh yeah.

WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT?!?

For the record, I enjoyed the "Dawn" remake. I'm a huge fan of the original, so I wasn't sure about it, but I enjoyed it. The zombies were only fast when they were going after food, the rest of the time they were the mindless shufflers we're used to. The gore was good, and the tension and suspense worked well in most places. It seemed like a good film to lead into a "Day" remake.

Except they appear to have dropped the ball on this one, haven't they? There's obviously no connection whatsoever to the "Dawn" remake (the zombie holocaust from "Dawn" apparently hasn't happened; Ving Rhames in what is supposed to be a sequel to "Dawn" but playing a different character?), and there doesn't seem to be much of a connection to the original "Day" (though IMDB does say the survivors hole up in a military bunker). I understand that director Steve Miner has directed quite a bit of stuff and has a decent history with horror films (he edited Wes Craven's Last House on the Left and directed Halloween: H20, Friday the 13th Parts II and III, House, Lake Placid, and Warlock), but if he wants to do a remake of Romero's "Day", he of all people should know how to do it, or at least make his own zombie film and not just slap a "_____ of the Dead" title on it for publicity's sake. Maybe the trailer wasn't put together correctly, I don't know, but from what we've got this movie looks like crap.

I could be wrong about the connection to "Dawn". Maybe Rhames is playing a brother or something. Maybe the reason it seems to negate the zombie holocaust from "Dawn" is because what's happening to these characters is happening at the same time as the events in "Dawn". That's something that we'll just have to wait to find out about. Right now though, this just seems like a teenage horror film with zombies thrown in. I want to see and hear more about it before I make a final judgement, but right now I'm leaning heavily towards......uh.......damn......hang on......

......ugh.......you get the point....

Two things:

1) It occurred to me last night that Shaun of the Dead was flat-out fucking RIPPING on old zombie movies by having Shaun walk around completely unaware that there are zombies and they STILL can't catch him!

By the way, Daffy, if the zombies on crack are videogame zombies, why are all the zombies I've seen in video games slower than snails?

2) Ving Rhames is probably playing the twin brother of his character from Dawn and it's probably happening at the same time as Dawn. Remember that he's worried about his brother over at Ft. Pastor and his initial goal is to get to him.

Actually, it was a commentary (albeit very funny) on how the working class and zombies are pretty much the same. Look at it again.

Duh. Because slow zombies are much more scary when you're surrounded.

Everyone knows that.

I believe someone already looked this up on IMDB and Ving's character in this movie has nothing to do with his character in the crappy remake.

True, too, but I think there's more than one meaning there.

You still haven't explained your use of the term "videogame movies" and connecting it to the cracked-up zombies. Show me a preponderance of video games have cracked-up zombies.

Well, that sucks because it would have actually been a good tie-in to go over to Ft. Pastor and show the events there from the same time period.

I believe I did, when I mentioned people having a short attention span liking the speedy-go-zombies.
