Default Hollywood re-imagines Sherlock Holms as an action adventure hero

Hollywood is going to screw over another great character.

Sounds like another Van Helsing.

I don't know about this; I recently (early last year, anyway) became a major Sherlock Holmes fan - I burned through all the Conan Doyle stories in about a month.

But I'm also a Neil Marshall fan. Neither "Dog Soldiers" nor "The Descent" broke new ground, but I found them both extremely entertaining; I'm definitely looking forward to seeing how his next one, "Doomsday", takes on the post-apocalypse genre.

As for this... could end up being a nightmare. But it's not like previous takes on Holmes - "The Seven Per Cent Solution", for example - didn't have Holmes participating in action sequences. As long as his detective skills stay at the forefront of his character, I wouldn't have a problem with the occasional bit of action.

Leave the classics alone and come up with something original.

I love Sherlock Holmes, but action hero....i don't think so. Holmes is a thinking man who uses his brains to capture criminals and not muscles or guns and technology. Just plain old good detective work from the art of deduction. Looks like Hollywood is on its way to ruining another great character. haven't they had enough with the massacer they did on Pink Panther Inspector Jack Clouseau.
